Moon walk

another porridge morning for R

Today we had tea. Both of us. No coffee. While the kettle boiled I fed dogs, pilled J and fed both soft food. When they were doe all went outside. Time to get to work. The dresser had the clear coat sanded smooth and wiped. I affixed the white wood accents on a drawer but not sure if they look to stark. I had my shop assistant put hardware on the last 4 drawers. As he finished them, they were put in the dresser. The top drawer edge was painted the warm white but looking at them in place I worried it would show the unlevel drawers so wiped it off and painted the edged brown.

Hardware was cleaned and sprayed a coat of gold. S was back in the house playing brain games but took time to make us tuna sandwiches for lunch.

After lunch I headed back to garage to work on projects. The drawers were McGyvered to work and get in proper order. The sideboard top was sanded and stained with black gel/top coat. The dresser had a clear coat applied to top and the hardware another spray of gold.

Time to get out and enjoy this amazing weather. It hit PLUS 5. I mixed up bird’s food and put her in a paddock to eat. We looped the property with the pups doing 2.3 kms. They loved the soft snow outing. S closed up the shop he left open all night and I retrieved Bird’s dish and penned the gate meeting back on the deck. It was fantastic out. So blue and clear and no wind. We enjoyed 2 refreshing beverages while the pets surrounded us for pets.

I cleared the heart attack thick snow on the west side of the house tossing on the plants. J got his pain meds too. Back inside I got busy cooking another Hello Fresh meal- zesty garlic pork. It was a highlight for Sheldon with the salad being like a Greek salad (yuck for me) The pork was tasty. I had it and the spinach portion of the salad.

Shaina took Renn to her swim lessons a few weeks ago but it did not go so well. Tonight she tried again.

Monday was not a lesson she enjoyed either with K. It seems the new sleep schedule is messing up her favorite activities :(

Then it was time for the moon walk. tonight id full moon with -1 temps. The dogs were happy to go on another 2 km walk. It was such a lovely evening. Back at the house I got a text Dylan Goodine passed away today. He is 35. That is heart breaking and unbelievable to lose a child. We headed out for a moon lit hot tub. B arrived as were were out having stayed late for yet another course. Not after we were back in and B headed home. The Flames loss had us heading to bed with a yogurt bowl to watch highlights and read a bit.

Porridge anyone?

S had his coffee and fed Har this am. J got his antibiotics and soft food. I opted for a couple cups of tea. We sipped them while playing some brain games and listening to a podcast. B arrived with Cooper and Gulliver who needed some outdoor time after that cold snap. S took the dogs for a walk. He heard coyotes so once back jumped in the ranger and set out to have a look. No luck. B started her hoof trimming tasks with Bird then Roo.

I sanded the dresser top and applied a 3rd coat of clear to all. Another coat of black oil finish was applied on sideboard too. See that round mark now showing center lower edge? Must me a mark within the wood grain, gosh darnit. We all had a leftover combo with fresh guacamole I made for lunch. I went and caught Switch and rode her back. B met us at the barn and she trimmed her feet while I groomed her and swept the floor.

Inside B hit big brown to peruse her phone. S was on the couch crushing more Flow games. I spent time on hold with Amazon after the first frame return via Canada Post went missing. Supposedly they will get my credit thru soon. We started a rousting Russian rummy game. B stopped to help Sharon with Timba just before 3. She fed Bird while out there too. I gave J his pain meds and S shoveled the snow from around and off the hot tub.  Back to the game where B was the winner. 

The first Hello fresh meal was cooked up - shrimp fusilli. It was good. B loaded up her pets, took her leftover super for lunch and was off before 6:30. S washed the pots before we ventured out for a hot tub soak. There was an eerie misty veil over the moon that thickened as we soaked. Then it was hockey game watching in bed for S and Youtube videos for me before an early lights out after 9. I gave J his evening meds just before.

Staining starts

Balmy -5 to start the day with a beautiful sunrise making the hoar frost trees sparkle. I continued my 1 coffee a day and think I shall swap for tea tomorrow. I really don't like the taste of coffee. J's bandage was off and still puffy so booked to take him to vet later today to get antibiotics. S had his multi cups while playing Flow, researching a power contract still then reading in big brown. 

Back to the garage for more hand sanding. The MCM dresser's paint was sponge sanded then I went ahead with my plan to oil based poly it. The drawer runners were "butta" treated to run smoother.

Cooper was carrying on. When I looked it, coyote was near. Off he chased it then spent 1/2 hour barking and patrolling the hay field. The sideboard I continued debated black or white or chocolate wash. My usually polling group (girls & AJ) were mostly black votes. I decided to go black: my first plan. Seeing the top was so light I applied a coat of cappuccino first and while wet I applied a coat of black. The stain showed many swirls in the wood even after hours of sanding and paper change. GRRRR

Time for lunch. Sheldon's deconstructed taco was a loaded version compared to mine. It was PLUS 3 after 1 pm. I got J all loaded in a kennel and we set off for town after 2. He weighed in at 5.04 kgs. The vet Emma took him back and lanced the area to get more draining. We left with 12 days of antibiotics and care instructions.

Another digital frame was dropped at the post office to return. I kept the cheapest one that had most options I wanted : sensor play, full screen pan, touch screen and clear photos. The cons are a limited app, limited storage and not as rich of colors as one $100 more one.

Back at the ranch we picked up our family park of Hello fresh at the gate. J was given his meds and Stella sent out for some fresh air. S and I took the dogs for a well needed walk which they enjoyed. The food was unpacked followed by a cold refreshment and some Tantrix.

Bison goulash was made for supper. I lightly sanded and put anther clear coat on the MCM dresser. B was here late tonight well after 7:30. She popped out to check out J as I was putting his warm compress on and squeezing it out. She ate then went out to feed Bird. S and I went out for a hot tub. For me it has been weeks. Tonight was amazing out. It is -3, no wind, near full moon in 2 days so very bright! We were getting out when B was heading off before 9:30. I made us our yogurt bowls. S watched his Flames loss in bed while I perused dog videos.

Sanding kinda day

When I let H out at 5:30 there was snow in the air making it look foggy. It continued when I got up and fed the dogs (Cooper dropped off early as usual) and cat. I am going for 1 coffee a day so had it in bed playing the daily Flow brain games then perusing Insta while the prince continued to sleep. Once up, he had his coffees and read his book in big brown.

I was then onto renewing my Nexus card. After much panicking and cancelling of my account I was able to find an authorization code on my old phone. We had bacon, tomato, avocado and spinach sandwiches for lunch. Always yummy. 

S was off to hockey and I to the garage. More sanding and sanding and sanding. Both surfaces are veneer so patience is a virtue I struggle with. J got his day 3 of painkiller. Think he is on the mend. The dresser sides were painted a second coat.

S was back home just before 5 stopping for a few beers with Steve after hockey. I put bison prime ribs in the instant pot while S peeled a pot of potatoes. We played a few games of Tantrix while all cooked. Potatoes were mashed, peas heated and ribs ready to go for a tasty meal.

After B was home, ate supper and fed her horse we checked on J. His wound was cleaned, poked a couple times to open new drain spots to no avail and we tried putting a poultice pad on with wrap. After B left she text back to remove as it was not for use on cats. I removed, washed the area and held a warm compress on for 4 minutes then put a warm gauze wrap on.

I joined S in bed who was watching hockey and perusing the net. I started a new library book he picked up for me on way home called It Ends With Us.
