Warmer but overcast and WINDY!!

Another restless sleep night and awake at 7. Harley came and laid on floor by bed and when I went to feed her later she hardly ate anything and came in to nap again. Her long play day yesterday has tuckered her right out. The chinook winds were blowing and the day overcast and gloomy.  I made coffee, served the sleeping prince in bed and worked on a bit of marketing before heading to the garage. The dresser corner was sanded and ready to paint. Prince came and helped me drill the holes to attach a piece of wood to fill the area where the mirror harp used to be.

all fixed

The drawer front and edge was painted black then everything got a second coat. While it dried the drawers were lined with black and white floral contact paper. S went out to let out cats and fix holes in the hay nets as he does not want to use so might as well sell. He was in for more coffee and a rest around 11. I hemp oiled the dresser while washing my coveralls.

After a warm up rest while I unloaded dishwasher S went back to net repair and I to garage cleaning more projects to paint and mixing new milk paint color.

trying milk paint on wicker with a new color

B and Cooper were out at 12:30 just as we were loading up to run to town to pick up the dressers. She caught Pepper and KD and started trimming. We made the trip in loaded the dressers, grabbed a tea and back home in short order. It is now PLUS 4 but so windy and overcast, glad we had our fun wiener roast yesterday.

this is the big dresser (customer photo), along with a tall one and nightstand

S and I unloaded the dressers into the garage then he headed inside. I changed into coveralls and went to help trim horses. We got all 5 trimmed up and I came back to milk paint the basket heating up my tea to enjoy while doing so. S had come out as we were finishing up to unload his trucks backset then put the new battery in the quad. B finished up feeding the ponies then she and Cooper were off for home at 4.

S jimmy rigged a couple road markers to take 2 broken ones and make one complete one. I tried my new ambassador paint on a chair; def not a fav color of mine but it should appeal to someone. After the first coat was on I came inside to prep supper. Loads of roasted veggies to go with the steelhead trout. Once all was in the oven I had to get evening marketing done quick. I had a message I won another Instagram giveaway :) but then they asked for $25 shipping which I did not read when entering so I passed on the win.

Supper was so yummy. S hit the couch with a hockey game while I went out and painted a second coat on the chair. I actually dont mind this color. Back inside I soaked in a tub as back sore from hauling, painting and trimming. S jumped in to soak after his game ended. I watched more Sneaky Pete while S perused the net and chatted on the phone. I was excited to get an Etsy sale for my nightstand! But now how to mail it to Edmonton? Tomorrow :)

Weiner Roast

Today is our first campfire of the year planned day. I was up with H at 7 for her bathroom break but kenneled her for half hour before breakfast. I then made coffee and served the prince in bed as I worked on some marketing. Vacuuming and tidying the main floor and watering all the plants were in order as S took taxes out to mez and let cats out. I boxed up the mug tree and printed up the label to send to town with Sheldon who was running the recyclables in.

B and Cooper were out around 10:30 as S was getting a few things done before heading to town. She fed horses while I got busy on my dresser. Black milk paint was mixed up, the dresser edge sanded and more reapplied. The entire dresser was painted black. The dresser drawers were painted a soft green. I was just putting brush in to soak as S drove back in the yard at 12:30.

I loaded up the trays of snacks and hot dogs and we bundled up and headed out. S got the fire going, chairs were set up and poop cleaned up. I gave the dogs a meat search which they always love to do. The 3 of us cooked up a hot dog after an hour with the Paetz crew arriving before 2. The afternoon was full of fun, snacks and great family time. And the weather was just above zero with a darn wind but loads of sunshine.

angel action

B and Cooper who had been napping inside for awhile headed home before 6. The Paetz's help tidy up and were off for home by 6:30. S put the kitties away. Time for a shower, S and I ate the last of the roasted veggies and tenderloin. He was off to watch the hockey game and I wrote todays blog while watching Sneaky Pete. Harley hit her kennel as soon as we came in and was out for hte night, lots of playing fun today for her.

PLUS 2

Har was patient today waking before 7 but I did not let out and feed till after 7 with the temp at -7. I quietly worked on marketing then turned coffee on after 8 waking the sleeping prince. After a couple cups he headed out to let out cats and play ball with H before we gave her a bath in the garage. I called Dad to wish him a happy birthday!

Time to get to work on the dresser I scrubbed up yesterday. The drawers were nailed in place and I tried to heat gun the sticky gunk out with little success. S was recruited to help me fix a missing corner only to find his router not working. I decided to remove the mirror harp completely as it was screwed on with a gross old boards and about 39 screws.

thought of trying this product first on this missing corner

look at this hack repair.. the thick plywood is smelling and moldy screwed on with 100 screws and the L brackets are mis matched.. yuck

off they came thanks to a power drill, hand screw driver and a pair of pliers

After lunch S got the router working and cut the corner. I glued the wood piece in and clamped to leave dry. The rest was hand sanded. The garage was swept and stuff moved around to make room for a couple dressers I am picking up Sunday.

this was the result of his idea

I had this demo stain swatch that worked well, I rounded it to fit then glued it in place and clamped

as well as gluing a lifting edge and clamped it

Harley was loaded and we headed to town for a potential rental property viewing at 3. The duplex turned out to be over priced and in need of work. We did a drive by of a couple others then scored a chai tea and muffin ( a couple Tim bits for H) then home. It was now plus 2 but as we drove S remembered we totally forgot to drop off the recyclables LOL, looks like a trip back to town tomorrow.

S hit the couch for a nap, H in her kennel to nap while I spent half an hour on the phone with Bell as my new phone plan was not correct. I was then off to work on the dresser. Once awake, S cut a back board for my dresser after taking off the harp. I scrubbed the dresser once again as the areas where the backing was removed was gross as was the dresser still. S took down the paddock Christmas lights.

More wood filler added to the top. B and Coop stopped around 6:30 for about half hour. Supper was yummy salmon burger with a fresh avocado/tomato salad and the leftover roasted veggies served late. S had kuga I had brought in made by Ma K then was off to TV room for hockey game. I got my iPad and Sneaky Pete and wrote todays blog.

I had an Etsy sale for the coffee mug holder. I will bundle it up tomorrow, tonight I am off to bed to watch more Sneaky Pete finishing season 1 while S was off watching his Flames in Battle of Alberta. I knew they lost when he came to bed dejected and went to sleep.

Weather continues to improve

Sunny -14 start to the day when I fed H after 7 before Cooper's arrival. Today is C daycare day arriving a little later then usual. B had my hot chai tea too, thanks. After she was off they went out for the first blast of the day. I worked on marketing till S was up at 9 having had a nice sleep in day. He did let H out for a potty break around 6:30 then back to sleep. He searched up a marinade recipe for his white tail tenderloin over a couple more coffees.

I wrote a tutorial for the "cement" plant pot. S mixed up his marinade and let it soak then stacked the overflowing recyclables. Another Amazon delivery at 11 for dog toothbrushes Britt is going to try. The egg gal passed them as she made her delivery next. The stool buyer was a bit later. Once he was loaded and on his way S went and let the kitties out with the dogs hot on his heels. They stayed out to play for half hour then in for another rest. The whole day was like this for them seeing the weather was finally nice.

This was in the package picked up yesterday, another Instagram win!!

S made omelets for lunch then time for a rest. After his rest he headed out to do a task and I took the dogs and kittens for a walk.

As I was taking their photo I saw his task, what the heck! See anything?

Back from our walk I did a meat search for the dogs. S came in successfully removing the snow on the solar panels. He tossed recyclables into the truck box then worked on finishing the GST to enter while I hauled the uber dirty dresser over to scrub. It was nasty.

I prepped a huge pan or veggies to roast and S put some potatoes in the mic, mashed and made twice baked to go with the tenderloin. Once everything was cooked up we feasted and I have to say it was quite good. Must have been the rum added to the marinade.

After tidying up it was time to finish Jack Ryan season. Britt was out to pick up Cooper at 9 having finished her weekly webinar after work. She was kind enough to put cats away before heading home.
