last of the nice weather for a bit

Sheldon was home around 9:30 last night after the meeting and Shaina around 2 am to spend the night here after visiting with a friend in town. Kaylin was on doggy day care today having the day off and B heading back to work. His name changed overnight and again throughout the day. This am it is Charlie.

Coffee started the day which motivated S to hang the front light he replaced a part on yesterday before he screwed 4 legs on my jewelry box. I built a rolling cart at the same time hoping it will fit in the pantry to hold goods and use the floor space better.

He and I took the farmhouse table apart and downstairs to store and now I could finish the basic cleaning on the main level vacuuming the hardwood. Of course in order to get the new cart in the pantry I gave it a complete clean and vacuum and wahlaa..

S rolled out a bale for the horses and packed up the recyclables to take to town after lunch. Shaina got up around noon made coffee, joined in on lunch then both headed to town. I got busy adding an embossed stencil to the jewelry box top then started cleaning a few more cupboards. I love that part of snowy January days to get organized.

Prince made it back home with a box of groceries as I was catching up with Shaina. She decided on scalloped potatoes to go with my marinated pork tenderloin (best recipe ever if you want it) to peeled them while I made the roux then she was off to train Sharon. She was back in an hour just as we had it all ready for her ;) Then she loaded up a to go plate and was off to boot camp after 6.

Shaina picked these up for me from Princess Auto yesterday while she waited for her new side window to be put in. She dropped it at 10 am and the window went in easy but the tint never did get put on and she finally left at 4 pm!! Not a happy camper but good thing she got her window in before the cold weather comes. Thanks for walking to grab these, they will come in handy!

Matt came over before 8 to watch hockey with S. I watched Netflix and blogged. B messaged puppy's name is Cooper ;)

dog day afternoon

Lexi was stoked to snuggle while we had coffee in bed and perused the internet. The blind caught the sunshine funny looking like a mask.

Her world was about to change when Britt got a call the puppy she was interested in was here after his (and 25+ other dogs) long journey from Arizona. She was beside herself and got busy organizing a trip over to Airdrie to meet him. She of course wanted us to go along so after lunch we loaded up, Lexi included and were off.

B drove the boat (dog car) and bribed us with Tim's, thanks B and even had to borrow S sunglasses due to the bright sun out.

 snuggler

Of course I knew this was pretty much 100% going to be an adoption and as soon as she met him it was confirmed. Soda Pop is his rescue name but she is deciding if it will stick. Bodie, Hank, Winston, Cooper & Snoop were a few top contenders with a plethora of others. Lexi was not sure she was thrilled to meet him but tolerated it. We spent an hour there (Sheldon mostly in the car) letting him adjust to us then she signed the papers, paid the $$ and we were off.

A stop at the Pet Value to get his free bag of food (they partner with the rescue, he also gets a free ID tag and discounts) and some treats then home to meet Lola and chill. It was 4:30 now and with a rodeo meeting at 6 it was time to get supper going. Barbecued chicken souvlaki was in order seeing it was another nice balmy day in January. S was off to his meeting.

his favorite place in the house

Britt loaded the boat up again with her doggy duo, toys, treats and blankets and was off to the city around 6:30 leaving me to update the blog. As well as scour kijiji for a dog kennel and puppy classes for her seeing I am such a researcher :) Below are him settling in to be a city dog, seems like Lexi is still non to impressed he followed her home. LOL

cleaning day at the ranch

Tidy up day underway, prince comes home too. I got the laundry finished up for the most part last night but still have a couple loads to fold and put away. The coffee pot needed a grinder cleaning as well as looking for my spare grinder for Kaylin who got whole beans as an Xmas gift. But the big part of my morning was posting the turquoise chair on Etsy, Kijiji and my FB page. As well as writing a blog post for it on my Creative Moments blog.

Then it was time to sort the furnace room, whew that was a challenge but it sure looks better when mostly organized. I found some plants for green thumb Shaina too. The cleaning continued all over getting the house looking somewhat tidy. It hit plus 4 and sunny so that always is inspiring.

I ran to the gate to pick up my long awaited parcel from Iron Orchid Designs and a Miss Mustard Seed/ Fusion goody box. It is always like Christmas when I get these boxes. Of course then I had to spend time watching how to videos and sourcing what I need to make the molds.

while waiting for Lola to run her perimeter check I updated the shiny gold knobs to match the new feet I am going to add to this freshly cleaned jewelry box

B and Sheldon arrived just after 11 having dropped Britt's car at the auto body guy on his way home from the airport. She brought Lexi too to spend the night at the ranch then B will take the boat back to use for the week while her car is being repaired. (yes this is finally after her wee fender bender a few years back)

City lunch date

Before Christmas a former co-worker organized a lunch for past and present data admins which got moved to today. I got ready to head to it and put a final coat of poly on the one ruler and buff the wax coat put on other last night before I left.

Sharon picked me up around 10:30, Vicky was picked up next and we were off to the city. We met the other ladies at the Cactus Club in the north east and had a good catch up. I personally have not seen most for a couple years easily so was nice to have a visit.. and a nice lunch ;) Sharon dropped me back home at 3. B had left for the city to get ready for her dog home inspection. I got started on procrastinated laundry.

The couple arrived at 5 to pick up the finished rulers. Yeah the first sales of 2018.. sure has been slow. I hope things pick up.

After finishing most of the laundry I started a new Netflix series called The Client List. Hmmm watched 4 episodes but think it might be more enjoyable for S to watch :)
