wind and rain .. and lots of both

yesterdays project

So the wind they forecast hit briefly around 5 then let up leaving an overcast gloomy morning. Britt was gone to work so I got to work on a few indoor projects including the dining table. I went with watering down Fusion paint to stain in layers.

 bare

grey wash then ash randomly added
then washed in white and left to dry

The rain started just before noon and came down for an hour then let up to nothing. An hour later the dreaded wind arrived and it BLEW. Rain rolled in again later but not sure it is actually landing the wind is so fierce.

I did table repairs.. note to self do before painting the top but oh well. The leg caps were a bit of a bugger to get off but now to clean them :/

It had hit 19 this am but dropped down to 3 (that is 25 degrees colder then yesterday!!) for a bit then went to 7, crazy weather. The wind raged and the rain pummeled down. Even after my batten down hatches it seems I forgot the barbecue cover. I headed out to gather it up and put in the shop, it was like fighting a hurricane. It looks like the closest shelter wall is suffering too.

here is Lola's food dish I brought in at 5 pm, thats allot of water

I whipped up a batch of chocolate chip cookies while I watched Ellen then cooked them when I was cooking the lazy enchilada casserole I made for supper. Britt arrived home around 7, finally cause I was hungry now. She was off to her room and I went back to the garage to polish the leg caps. I tried 2 with brass polish and 2 with ketchup (as per suggestion post I had) I guess I may not have left the ketchup on long enough, that and because they are REALLY dirty maybe. I kept polishing them all with brass cleaner and eventually got them fairly clean.

now to clean these

brass cleaner left, ketchup right, then all brass cleaner and lots more elbow grease later below

My next adventure was to driftwood stain over the table top. Time to let all dry over night, come in and blog a bit while watching a few more Sense8 episodes with a cookie or two ;) My sofa table blog went live.

spray paint & wind mayhem

Britt was off to work early on what is to be a hot day. I had my coffee and did some internet work before heading outside to continue hand picking weeds, transplanting and watering flowers/trees and such. 25 by noon but off and on clouds and wind which they say will blow in rain tomorrow, fingers crossed.

I started the cabinet spray paint project. I finished removing the back, disassembling the legs and put on my rolling cart and headed outside but the wind was to blustery and sun dried it to fast so back inside. I truly am not a fan of spray painted large projects. Like all paints it seems to have a learning curve I am not picking up.

seems my mask is not that efficient ;)

The day got warmer to 28 and wind continued. They are calling for lots of wind tomorrow with rain so time to lay down the chairs and check for any items outside that could blow. As I was taking out some spent flowers, the winds blew hard thru the deck door, caught the large horse canvas and swept my favorite blue glass dish off and smashed ;( dam Of all the blue glass I have, why one of my favorites?

Britt was home by 6 as I was making supper. I headed back out to add more spray paint to the cabinet and she was off to town getting back home at 10 as I was watching Netflix and cleaning bathrooms. Got to love having an Ipad and Netflix to make chores pass faster. They say crazy wind in the am but it seems it is happening tonight. There was a few times I ventured out to move deck chairs more securely placed.

victoria day

Another beauty day in the works. The free items were slated for pick up at 11:30 so S cruised to the gate on the quad to leave it open. I moved 3 horses to the new paddock and the other 3 to the winter pasture. Sheldon was filling the sprayer when the first arrived for wood, he took a break to load the entire pallet on the guys truck too then got to spraying the field.

Britt pulled in at noon as I was filling far water tub and opening gates for horses, Sheldon and I moved a few more things at the shop then came into have a late lunch. He got all showered and ready to head north and catch a nap before going. Britt and I headed out to ride in the glorious 25 sunshine. When we got back an hour later, Grant was here visiting, no nap for Prince. We were hosing the horses when he jetted off to the airport.

B rode Pepper bareback for some lesson work  for a bit as I walked the 2 girls over to the far paddock. Hot and zero wind and they say tomorrow even hotter then finally some rain. Fingers crossed.

Time to get to furniture work, I scrubbed my dining table and the low cabinet and left to dry. Seeing it was still so nice I headed back out; set the water hose to run, more quack grass and weeds pulled led to the push mower coming out which led to running out of gas, then filling then mowing nearly the entire north west side of the house but it looks so lovely. The wind picked up which was ok for mozzies.

Once again covered in dust and grime time to soak and finish the Scandal series forever and crawl into fresh sheets and start a new one called Sense8. Britt was off to town to hang with a friend not getting home till 1. Going to be an early work day tomorrow lady ;)

Sunday purge day

WINDY windy day, we were to go riding at the river but cancelled as so yucky. I worked on posting my sideboard blog post on a few linky parties, Sheldon headed to the shop to work on the push mower. Matt & Theo stopped to grab wire so I took them to the shop and got started on watering my garden. I moved all the horses out to mow again in new paddock and round pen. Time to roll up the hot wire. We have such great technology for this job lol

grass is always greener outside the pen right?

I set up a water tub for them too. Trees got trimmed and eventually S got the mower working to zip around the lilac trees.

We then began a huge project we called the Sanford area around the shop. One thing led to another and soon we had stuff posted for free, grass mowed and whipped, huge plastic water receptacles cut in pieces and an entire dump trailer of wood and such to go.

remember this big water tank we hauled home last year, yep a crack.. dam

some of the wood loaded ready to go

pulling out this huge suction pipe

got to take it down with the weed eater to start

another cracked huge water container gets cut down
after all things sorted and I mowed, so much better

A fellow popped out for conveyor belt and the rest posted was called with PU tomorrow. We sorted and organized and it looked fabulous. Seeing we had a few pallets of burnable wood and we had put in a long day, it was time for a campfire to celebrate. Smokies were the evening supper course. I moved the horses all back out to the main paddocks. We even had the perfect dance floor ;)
