Sunshine finally

Thinking I was going to attend an online hoof course at 9 I was out feeding and doctoring the horses after 8:30. It is a good think my "astronaut" coveralls can fit a thick fuzzy housecoat in them along with me. There was a fresh coat of snow.. and the icy areas were now even more treacherous. I may have had a few slip and slide screams happening.

Back inside I found the course cost $$, WTH. So it was cappuccino and a bit of marketing. The sun came out and hit a high of zero!! This made for a fabulous day to finally see sun. It was time then to get dressed and head out to the garage and get to work on projects. I finished the dining table edges, finally!!

OMG I just found the perfect answer to save my fingers nails and go twice as fast!

I hauled the white dresser out, removed hardware and worked on drawers. I was scraping the top when Mama K called to catch up. B arrived before 1 as we were chatting.

She checked horses to find injuries of course. She cleaned a odd patch on Roo's face and Bandits foot that seemed to be infected while I ate a quick salad for lunch. I hauled the vanity pieces all to the deck for pick up in next little while.

Then we got busy trimming feet: Bandit, Bird, Switch & Roo all got a pedicure. The vanity was picked up before 3, as I watched him (the son) load it he dumped a few drawers out sending them tumbling down the stairs hitting the sidewalk, ;( He said oh they are ok.

B's farrier chaps above and ones Dad gave me that are too small, trying to think how to have Sharon tweak them as the ones she dropped off of Darren's are too bulky & fancy to trim in.

We finished up the trims and I started hauling 6 bales down to the ranger and transferring to the pallets for the next few days til S gets home. I came in after 4 for a cold beer. B loaded 3 more in the ranger for good measure. The dogs were again on an adventure and after waiting with them not home she headed to town around 4:30. They were back in less then an hour, I put Cooper in his kennel to eat and dry off.

I went back to work in the garage working on the white dresser. The top edge was scraped off and the top stripped and scraped. I was working on it when Matt picked up the Boston fern for the lady who bought it. Somehow he is getting it her son. Thanks Matt.

whoot I found money in the dresser, think only amount I have ever found but it is US so more then .10 :)

I built a new corner too

I came in at 7 just after he left to cook supper: shawarma chicken and freekeh . Sadly the squash was rotting so that was not part of it. Last week had squishy zucchini and wilted bok choy. The produce is a bit frustrating for the $99.99/box price but do know you can send them a photo and they will credit your next box. Britt arrived as I was cooking. She had purchased a big tool box to be our one stop vet box. She had new meds too. Once it was all set up she went out to administer Bandit's eye meds and feed the horses before heading to town before 8:30. Thanks B.

I finished up yesterdays blog post and published it then hit the tub at 10 to soak my aches of the day then relaxed in bed starting a new show called Unorthodox. The Jewish life can be very strict, wow! And this is based on a true story.

I left the ranch after 10 days, really 24!!

New waking spring hours 7:30 for the last few weeks LOL but again another overcast dreary day ahead. Horses were fed and doctored earlier today after 9. I created a new FB cover photo.

I cracked out a fresh tea towel … from my wedding shower stash!! That's right I still have more yet too. At my shower folks were cutting edge by using tea towels as reusable wrapping paper and has kept me in fresh tea towels for 30 years and going!!

Lunch I heated up the burger meal from last night with great success. I dosed Bandit's eye at 1:30 and then drove to town!! You read it right I left the ranch after another 10 seclusion!! My first stop was at the waste staion to toss my wee little bag of smelly trash and grab the mail that has not been picked up for weeks. Next it was to drop off some games and goodies at the Paetz's along with Aislyn's car seat. We had a socially distanced visit thru Archer's window. It was most entertaining especially since they have a few "rats" aka gophers that live under their deck.

My next stop was to pick up a dresser from a lady who had it set out her front door. I was armed with warm roping gloves and it was small enough to move easily. The gloves came in handy for the next stop too at the car wash to hold the water gun. Now they go in the garage laundry, easy peasy.

The liquor store was a super easy stop. Yes they have a new curbside pick up but I did not call ahead. No worries all the doors automatically open, I grabbed the Irish cream held it up for her to scan thru the plexiglass shield, paid via touchless contact and out the door in about 2 minutes if that.

My last stop was rather branchy, it was the drive thru at Tim's. Sharon and I chatted about the way they press on the lids with their palms most of the time so I ordered mine lidless. It was a great idea until trying to drive thru the pot holes to get out of the drive thru and town roads!! Amanda came up with best solution, take go cup and pour directly in from just the cup only order!

Back at the ranch I enjoyed my tea before going on an hour search for Kaylin’s missing Harry Potter book. I found ones Shaina was looking for and loads of Kaylin memories but no boooks. It makes me crazy when something goes missing. I hauled up the vanity pieces to be picked up tomorrow while searching. This is also part of my weight workout along with daily bale lifting. Finally I gave up and hope they show up somewhere.

I enjoyed the shrimp couscous left overs for supper before I kicked my own butt to get out to the garage and work. I put on the gloves and unloaded the dresser.

why would anyone remove the original pulls and add shiny knobs and take off the feet? I will make her pretty again!!

Then onto the dining table. The edges are so tedious. Each little bit with folded sand paper ended up wearing away edges on my nails too LOL. I worked for over an hour and was half done.

Time for fresh air and the evening bale work out. Added to this weight is the challenge of crossing the super icy paddocks with said bale. I distributed it out, added ointment to B’s eye and was back inside the garage. The table base with the peeling paint was next on my squirrel list. I ended up spending almost 2 hour peeling of the glossy black latex paint. Again like the dining table the large flat surfaces were much faster then the wee little edges/legs.

At 10 I wrapped it up coming in to grab an ice tea and crawl into bed. I caught up todays blog before watching the final 2 Ozark episodes. I have lot my zest for Scrabble as you can tell; too many ads on that game and too many words over and over again like Qi, aa, si and weird words that make no sense but count if you just try letters like mixt. The cliff hanger ending of Ozark is nuts!

Another cloudy day at the ranch

The days are becoming even a blur to me in this crappy overcast weather kinda days. I did the usual marketing and house chores. Before trying to list the jewelry box I had to edit photos including adding something in the mirror pics.

before and after, which is more appealing?

I made my way out at 10 to feed horses, give pills and no administer eye ointment. Seeing I was out I facetimed the Paetz kids to show them the horses and catch up on their week.

The snow came and went throughout the day with almost zero accumulation. I worked on making a new landing page for my blog/subscribers after attending an online webinar then wrote an ad for the jewelry box on Etsy.

treasure hunter stopping by to show me her wares

I went out and put more ointment in Bandit's eye at 2:30 then when back in the garage moved around and snapped pics of my new pieces. Then it was on to wasting a few hours trying to get on to the AB benefit program. Shaina finally got thru and got it the second time around thank goodness.

staged the jewelry box with the violet

Another meal for supper was cooked up; steak spiced burgers. It was good but I was starved with only a half tuna sandwich for lunch lol. It will not be a good heat up meal but that is ok.

wee bag o pickles ;)

I did some more computer work including publishing the blue bread box tutorial before feeding horses and treating Bandit's eye at 8 then hit the shower. I remembered after that I put the wrong link for all the work I did today on the new landing page and updated in many places so had to go change it all back LOL. Oh GEEZ. Then it was time for an Ozark and sleep music.

Happy 18th Brooke!!

Eye day for 3 horses and no April fools here

UGH the weather is still cold and ugly but YEAH my headache is gone. It was the usual am with caps, marketing and horse care. The bitter -13 winds made the trek across the super icy ground with  75 pound bale treacherous but did constitute a workout I think :). They were happy to see me and of course waited until I served their breakfast in the sheltered areas. The boys got their pills too. I also got the antique valet chair out of the cargo trailer. Lola came in with me to the garage and stayed there till late afternoon. The chair buyer arrived before 11 to get the chair off the deck and on her way after passing me cash she said she cleaned ;)

Mickey was looking for this photo so I threw it up on FB with loads of people loving the memories.

I added black, white and gold wax to the jewelry box then for good measure a bit more dark. I think it looks like an aged piece now so will stage it up.

Both Kaylin and Shaina finally got thru for Alberta funds relief, yeah! But later in the day S was declined :( The sun popped out around lunch and off and on for the afternoon with the lightest skiff of snow at 4. B and Coper arrived at 4:30 having gotten off work early. She and I treated horses. While she caught Bandit, Pepper and Bird I scooped dreaded cat poop in the arena from their super large winter kitty litter box. B stained Bandit's eye and found an ulcer so treated it with meds that I will now need to apply 3 times a day.

Sorry photo was blurry trying to hold horse and snap picture while Britt was pointing out the ulcer.

Next was Pepper who was a real pe$$er. She did get his right eye flushed (it requires the small tube inserted thru their nasolacrimal duct in their nose, recall KD's video from her trip to Moore's) but no luck on the left after MANY attempts. Bird and Pepper got a few laps in the arena on good footing to burn off steam and released. Bandit had been released earlier to have his "snacks".

See the small tube on left photo?

Then it was KD's turn. Again B got the right side done but not the left. Both she and Pepper had ointment added to eyes and they get 1 does a day. Lucky me.

I tossed out hay seeing it was now 6 before coming in to cook Hello Fresh : roasted shrimp and avocado dressing while B loaded up Cooper and was off for town. Even though the avocado was not ripe I managed to create the meal and it was good. I would make it again with a ripe one.

I was working on accounting when Britt popped back out at 8 to grab her kit she brought from work and left on front step. She gave Bandit more eye ointment and was off, thanks B! I continued my picture sorting and purge. Taking so many photos requires space cleared and staying on top of it. At 10 it was time to crawl into bed and catch another Ozark then listen to some sleep music.
