923 - vet day for the doggies

Day 923 the soft snow was falling when first up but eventually the sun shone thru. With only a high of -5 it was an OK day as no wind and lots of sun. But my hibiscus had THREE blooms greeting me this morning.
I got moving early after Britt was off to school. Today I finished up the shelf giving it a white glaze and hand waxed finish then staged it for sale.
Shaina got up to help take the dogs to the vet at 11.
Big D loving the ride. The vet kept both Coco and D for tests for an hour so Shaina and I ran errands and had lunch. The results were good for coco siting no blood work alarms and such so was put on a new weight loss food but poor Diego seems to be suffering from a bladder infection so is on pills for 10 days. After I paid the $300+ bill we took them for a quick trip to the dog park.
I recruited another savvy shopper, Mom scored some great pieces for me from a sale at the Lanfine hall this w/e, THANKS MOM!! all this for $40!!
In the afternoon I started on the first custom work .. the desk and chair. I mixed up the custom paint and the custom chalk paint and got busy putting the first coat on the entire thing.

Shaina went out and threw hay while I worked but the horses were perplexed as to how to get it so eventually she leaped on KD and tried to lead them around. However this did not work so she tried Daisy and still no luck,
it was Britt to the rescue as she was getting home from school
she jumped on Pepper and then lead the rest around, success .. thanks girls!
I wrapped up my photo frame to mail off to my Fort Mac customer and luckily I had a few beer boxes for protection. Good sacrifice to have heavy duty packaging, drink up Shelly!
Shaina went to town to have supper with Emily and then they were back out here for a sleep over later in the evening giggling into the late night. Britt watched her TV and I enjoyed a hot bath after a long day and started a new book. Unfortunately I read till close till 2 am and then could not sleep till after 5 :-(, starting to sleep like Shaina :-)

922 - snow blowing windy day

Day 922 the wind howled, although around 0 it made the day crappy. We did get an extra hour sleep though. Shaina who came to sleep in the big comfy bed in the night, enjoyed a cozy morning joining me for coffee and technology time. I had put the jewelry frame on auction last night but it was slow but thanks to an internet friend who posted it on her page it picked up for a bit.
Britt was up late but concerned for the pets dressed up warm and trudged thru the blizzard to the shop. She had to dig the quad out inside the doors, guess we best get this closed in better Sheldon. She loaded up a couple bales and took them to the hungry ponies. She refilled the tires with air and fed her cats.. Way to go Britt!!

off she goes and they see her coming.. happy horses

Shaina worked on cleaning their bathroom and her room a bit which is always nice.

My first big custom work project arrived even with this weather. it is a desk and chair very similar to the one I did but this one needs to match the white dresser she bought from me.
A gal emailed about my sweet desk and I hesitated about saying it was still for sale but finally did, she sent her husband to take a look. Turned out it was Don Peterson, son of Denise, who came from Oyen and I knew when he was little. Small world for sure, He and his little guy took the desk home.
I stained my salt shaker, 2 growth charts as well as painting up a shelf Gail gave me in pretty pink. I am also going to finish another one for her. But best get on the big project as I have 2 other large dressers waiting to be delivered and refinished.
Britt sent me this picture of a burger she cooked up at work yesterday so I nominated her to make supper today, a recipe she has made before, beef enchilada casserole. Both Shaina and I complimented her on the final results, GREAT SUPPER B
her burger from yesterday.. looks good and below my new dating couple
I then glazed the pink shelf in white, washed down and removed all hardware on the desk and waxed miss salt. Last chore of the day was to mark the measurements on the 2 rulers. Shaina ran to town to watch walking Dead with a  friend and text back the roads were terrible. I have heard nothing good all day about them, hello old man winter!

921 - the snow returns

Day 921 started out ok at 8 am but by 10 the big fluffy snowflakes started to come down. And did so for the rest of the day but good news it stayed plus 1 and no wind :-) I went out to dig last of beets and gather some chicken wire and it was a perfect ski day!
I put a 2nd coat of wax on the whitewashed table then brought it in for staging

super cute as small island or minimalist desk
Shaina slept the day away dragging herself out after 1. Britt text quite early and was off to work for noon.

Then it was time to put together my jewelry/photo frame. A small glitch incurred and after fighting with Sheldon's stapler and getting it completely jammed Shaina kindly drove over to grab me one from Darren. His was much smaller in the hand and finer staples, THANKS Darren!! I got it finished up and staged some photos.

my stapler assortment, note the desk one was totally useless as was Sheldon's big yellow but Darren's "older than dirt" model was perfect size for the hand and staples.. where can I find one?

I also moved the cute desk I refinished downstairs
Next project was to paint the date I found for my pepper shaker but this gal had sticky finish syndrome so after trying sandpaper, TKO, stripper, paint thinner, screw driver to scrape and more sand paper with multiple washings I think I got it off.
Gail came out to watch a movie then I joined the for a few games of sequence. Britt was home white knuckled around 7:30 as Gail was heading back to town. Seems the wind has picked up now ;-(
I headed out to put a coat of paint on the salt shaker gal while the girls each did a dish chore, thanks girls!
Sheldon says snow has arrived up north now too.

920 - travelling hairdresser arrives at the ranch

Day 920 was yet another gorgeous plus 9 day. Britt was up and had her car started by 8 and out the door soon after.. where too you say so early?? well I told her Walmart had candy on half price! Apparently she stocked up good!

I started the day with my new favorite tea ; pumpkin spice which I purchased a box for at home along with Britt's favorite apple cinnamon. This paired with THE BEST apple, a honey crisp was a great start. I planted a honey crisp tree and it was one of the hailed out pricey ones! ;-( I also tested out a couple clusters which I saw on Dragons Den, good but soooooo sweet!
enjoyed working on a few projects in the morning such as white washing my pine table
I added grey and black for depth too but liking the fresh feel

I wiped and waxed the frame I painted last night, I was going to paint actual chalk board paint on the glass but thought green lovers might want to use the mats and frame instead so will see what replies I get on my page
I then painted the planned jewelry frame black, waxed then painted white
 some of my new products
But just before 2 I had visitors. Amanda was coming to color my hair, talk about service, THANKS sister XOXOXOXO
hulky man who assured me he was just Asher!!
Shaina was finally up around noon and was testing her makeup for tonight so when they arrived she too was in costume
Ada too was a ballerina, just not broken like Shaina

a shot of the band rehearsing while my hair processed
then it was rinse and visit before they headed home just before 5. Britt brought home her candy stash and got loaded to head to her friends where they will dress and head to their costume party and sleeping over at Brooke's. She took off just after 5 and Shaina just before 5:30, she was heading to work the golf course wine gala tonight then partake in the Stations costume night.
here is a shot of the snow nearly gone after a few nice days but the forecast is for more to arrive tomorrow, hmmm guess winter is on its way.
a pack of hunters..herd? posse? gaggle?  ;-)

Evening events for me included distressing and waxing the jewelry frame in dark wax
 close up of details
 then clear waxing the table
I then worked on marketing my wares while I waited for the rustic frames and mirror auction to close.
