Family reunion

Today we leave the west coast and head back to the other side of the island. I made us 2 pots of French press coffee today finishing our maple creamer in perfect timing. S even was able to fill his go cup for the drive as they supplied fresh cream too. I filled mine with ice and water at the station in the lobby. After packing up and checking out we were on the road.

We stopped at a few beaches as we made our way south getting in the last of the ocean views. At the turn east we stopped to get a smoothie for me and a poke bowl and beer for the driver at a neat little stop.

One of the beaches had this board walk to get to it to preserve the area keeping people on the path

We also routed the way to stop at a place called goats on the roof market. It was ok to see the grassed roof top with goats but definitely not a go out of your way as very hard to see and lots of people stopping to look. It was time to fill the rental car with gas and so far the entire trip cost $75.01 and that was at $1.749 which was a deal as most places are $1.869.

We checked into the Microtel in Oyster Bay quickly. This hotel is a plain jane basic but we are only sleeping there so OK. We then were off to meet long lost cousins. I had found many via 23& Me. Quite a few live in BC. One of Dad's 1st cousins and his daughter live near Nanaimo. The daughter Gail and I have connected and have allot in common. She offered to host a supper to meet. I had also connected with another 1st cousin who just found out his relation to the tree. He and his daughter were invited as well. Gail hosted this event at her home which was about 7 minutes away from the hotel. We arrived at 3:30 and spent the next 8 hours visiting, eating a ton of food and learning all the connections. It was quite an eventful evening meeting family I never even knew we had. Of course we were the last to leave. Back at the hotel S caught up on his missed hockey game and I watched some Queen Charlotte before falling asleep.

This was just the appetizers she set out, the table was covered for supper!

Running thru her property is a river that has coho and chinook salmon
