Friday the 13th

Today is Friday the 13th; do you believe in superstitions? I rose early, scrolled through Instagram, and engaged in a game of Flow before brewing tea—my third day doing so. Dave tended to the horses, leaving Cooper behind for the day. S made coffee after waking up. After my usual blog post, a bit of marketing, and enjoying a slice of toast, I then got to work on the dressers, taking advantage of the overcast and cool weather. S started to pack bearings on the feather light trailer after his porridge.

I finished painting and came in at noon to thaw the bacon and get the BTS ready for lunch. S came in at 1 to dine, but he had to depart soon after to meet someone who was dropping off a trailer he needs to sell on behalf of his father's friend. After the meal, I resumed my project, moving the large, long dresser into my workspace. I also made headway on it, cleaning, sanding, and applying a coat of black paint to all the drawers.

Once the touch-up paint on the tall dresser had dried, I managed to gently lower it from the work table by myself and fit the drawers in order to photograph it. The wooden dressers boast arborite tops that are not only highly durable but also look ok with the black finish. Nevertheless, whether to paint the tops black to match the rest is a choice that awaits the young man for whom they are intended. At present, he is golfing in British Columbia, hence his mother cannot get his preference so I will wait to hear.

This is the arborite top with the base.. it is super durable and this young fellow uses the pieces in his bedroom with TV and gaming stuff on top so would be a better choice.

Seizing the sunny weather, I headed out after 2 pm to care for my garden . I gathered carrots, zucchini, beets, and potatoes, and trimmed the dead foliage. At the same time, S moved on to packing the bearings on the horse trailer, so I took him a chilled beer before resuming my gardening tasks. The second cabbage had not grown much, probably because the tall marigolds now shaded it, and it had split due to the recent rainfall, so I harvested it too.

Returning to the garage, I resumed work on the dresser projects. I had forgotten the mirror, so I brought it out to sand and clean, removing the basket weave insert. After scrubbing, the hardware was dry, so I took it outside to spray paint it black. As it dried, I worked on today's blog post on the deck, basking in the sunshine, having just fed the dogs. S, along with the cats and dogs, joined me for some sun therapy. Later, I took the dogs for a walk up to the gate and back.

finally I cut some dahlias, the ones on left were supposed to be same kind but don't think so

S heated up ribs and cooked KD for his supper, while I chose the leftover sushi and fresh carrots as I worked on uploading videos and completing the blog for yesterday. Afterwards, I returned to the garage to test the newly painted hardware on the dresser. The young man wants to keep the arboreta top as is. That's when B arrived. After feeding horses, she and Coop left for home, having assisted S with his hair trim. Subsequently, S showered and settled into bed to work on his laptop.

After completing the new tutorials, I opted for a hot tub session. Stepping out, I came upon the cats in a standoff with Tony. Fortunately, he was easier to catch this time, and after texting the neighbors, they collected him shortly while I enjoyed my soak. Post-shower, I settled down to watch my iPad as S slept.
