Another lovely trail ride

It's a sunny Sunday, September 15th—already halfway through the month! With no milk or creamer, S tried black coffee today and surprisingly enjoyed it. LOL. Meanwhile, I had tea again. After his porridge, he was off to church, but not before helping me hoist the hefty dresser onto the work table to access the base. This is the final piece I need to finish, and I've scheduled a mid-week pickup for their dressers, so it's crucial to complete it. I devoted an hour to sanding and painting the base right where it was, as my power drill had been taken to the shop by the handyman.

After the paint had dried, I went outside to water my planters. The dahlias are in full bloom right now. I threw hay for our horses and fed the mares and foals their food. Although it's only 13 degrees, it's sunny with no wind. S came home with milk and Tim's lunch after church and pancakes. B arrived shortly after him. She prepared her food, fed the mares and foals hay, and began readying the tack. Once we had finished eating, S attached the horse trailer and maneuvered it into position for loading. I also put a roast in the slow cooker for later.

Beibs was caught in about 30 seconds today, record time. I believe he's enjoying these adventures. The horses and tack were loaded, and the dogs, though dejected, were placed in the house, and we were on our way by 1:15. We parked on the north side of Sandy McNabb in the day-use parking lot and quickly set off. Our journey took us on a 10+ km route around the Long Prairie and through Death Valley, which lasted about 2 and a half hours. We only encountered a short bit of rain and the occasional mist mixed with 18 degree sunshine.

Beibs not sure about crossing a creek, both directions he needed B to coax him over on foot

The trails were quite serene, though hikers outnumbered riders (only 1 other). After returning to the trailer, we untacked, groomed, and loaded them up for the road. We made another stop at DQ so Britt could grab her first meal of the day (good grief, B), followed by S who went in to get us each a small sundae.

Once back at the ranch just after 7, I unloaded the horses, B placed them in the paddock, and S released the dogs and prepared hay for them. I fed Harley on my way to cook the potatoes and zucchini that would accompany the roast. B continued with more feeding and then headed to her house. It was another delicious meal to conclude a splendid day outdoors. The evening capped off with a hot tub soak, a shower, and some relaxation in bed. I worked on today's blog while we watched Luxe Listings, Sydney.
