Happy cake day to the Prince

H wanted out at 6:30 again, ugh but it was not long and B let her and Cooper back in after she gave Roo her meds and let horses out before she headed to work at 7. I tried to go back to sleep but no luck. The birthday boy woke not long after and made coffee grabbing a go cup on his way to get blood work done. He hoped to be there when they open at 8 to get in line for walk in ending up #5.

I continued laundry, trailer packing, blog writing, kombucha bottling, accounting and such. He was back home before 10 with a tea and his birthday breakfast wrap then jumped in the swather to head to a neighbors he offered to hay for. He has quite the birthday plans :) I moved on to watering all plants, boiling eggs to take and general housework before S was back after 11:30.

We packed up more things catching a bit of the news and S watered the garden and picked a bowl of tomatoes and a couple zucchini’s. Mom and Dad popped out to give us some fresh veggies from the farmers market to take camping, THANK YOU!

view thru the window as we round a corner into the valley

We loaded up H and were on our way stopping to get a 5 gallon of water, some groceries then stopped at Subway for the birthday boys lunch choice. We ate on the road with a drink from the trailer. Going thru the city was a bit of a start and stop on a Tuesday after a long weekend but eventually we were out and clear sailing to the mountains. We rolled into the Bow Valley campground around 4, found our spot and set up. It was a beauty along the river but it was steeply sloped requiring the tires to be off the ground after self leveling. That is scary to me, it is like we are now on stilts.

S put the back jacks down to help ease my mind

trying for a family photo

Harley waited until all was set up before coming out of her back seat so we went for a little walk along the river edge. Back at the trailer I put her in her kennel and we set off for Canmore for supper. Kaylin and Nathan had a few recommends and after finding one saying it was open we found a parking spot nearby. This was the first time we used a QR code to pay parking which was neat but turned it to be a donation. Once we got to the restaurant Graze it was closed with others outside wondering the same thing. We walked the whole Main Street and finally found one called Wood at the end of Main Street but it would be an hour and a half  wait as the chef just cut off his finger!!!

mountains everywhere; above main street south and below to the east

We walked to the other nd and found one with the same wait so jumped in the truck and headed back across the river to Blake Brewhouse. It seems all the restaurants here are one word LOL. This one too had a wait but it ended up being about 15 minutes. It was packed so service was OK, the beer (it is a brewery) S had was good and I had their in house citrus gin which was good. The food was delicious although S beef was a little chewy in his south of the border bowl.

bday boy wanted a photo with the mountains in the back with his truck

The 26 degree day sun was now behind the mountain after 8 so things cooled off quick. We found a DQ only to find they do not make banana split blizzards!!! They make other gross kinds but not our favorite so we ended up getting a sundae each for bday dessert. On our way back to the campground we swung thru Bow River campground that was full when he booked but it was not very impressive other then site number 24 just on the rivers edge.

Back at our camp we took Harley for a walk then relaxed in the trailer as mozzies were out and our slide is next to the fire pit and allot of our wood is under the trailer jacks, hahaha. S relaxed on the couch and I in the massage chair writing the blog for today. I was very excited to see I had FINALLY sold an Etsy piece after 5 months; the striped lazy susan.

Be sure to check out our ATV day where the ranger got swamped!
