SMOKY day

I was awoken to the strong smell of smoke at 4:30. The BC fire fires must be unbelievable to live in. I got up and closed all windows I had open as it finally was a cool windless night. This of course had H thinking maybe it was time to go out but I convinced her to lay down a bit longer. I put her in the garage at 6:30 where it was slightly smoky with just one window open. The poor horses trying to breathe the air; again the animals in BC must be suffering so. I was up to feed H at her usual 8:30 and while she ate I put the now dry drawers in the dresser; some required a bit of hammer work.

These 2 dressers are going to be SOOOO much work, sure hope they look good once done. Britt thinks she would like this one.

Time to get a cap going and do my Sunday morning marketing. The tutorial went live and had to be shared on many sites and with the paint sponsor. With my second cup in hand I wrote a post for Hometalk for the custom coffee table.

Now to get busy with the projects; the dresser was painted white. Yep the 3rd color choice and think it is better but still not sure about the designs on it.

I braved the smoky air late afternoon to haul the chair out and sand it all down. A second coat of white was put on after sanding. This should be the last full coat :)

I was pruning and watering the planters and garden just before Britt, Cooper and Dave (no racing today due to poor air quality) stopped out around 4 to feed the horses and off in half an hour. I pulled out the drawers for the other antique dresser and got them covered in stripper. I left them to sit while I went in to put the hamburger on for supper. As it cooked I ran out to scrape them then back in to put ingredients in and left to simmer while I scrubbed the entire dresser and did some drawer repairs.

They are so dirty and so banged up, casters are all bent and that one drawer top is all smashed off but then they stained over it so must have not cared to try and repair ;(

I made it back in after 6 to watch the stampede finals while I ate, folded and put away laundry then made and bottled kombucha. After it ended at 9 I took H and the kitties for our smoky walk looping thru the horses to check blankets. It was actually brisk at 19 with no sun, only smoky haze. Back at the house I took the cats some offal, rinsed the dish for H to drink then inside to write the blog with a water kefir. Then to bed to watch iPad after 10.
