Food Tour day

Day 3 is the Old Quebec City food tour. Seeing you were to come hungry I had us up by 8 and heading down for early breakfast. Perfect we made it in time for croissants today. Yummy.

I snapped this at 8, first time river view with no cruise ship but one rolled in minutes later HAHA

Then back to the room with a cappuccino to finish getting ready to venture out to the food tour by 10.

It did not start till 11 so we were there early but walking in the sunshine was nice. The 3 hour tour was very enjoyable and well worth the $$. We started with poutine with a braised beef twist at Le Chic Shack, next was raw salmon with maple vinegar drizzle and venison tartare at La Buche , next stop another fresh croissant at Paillard then onto the best stop for me.. sugar cream (fudge) at Chez Boulay delicatessen, herbal tea at the Monestery of Augustine then last stop smoked meat/wine at Beclub Bistro (Sheldon's favorite stop).

more unique Quebec decor, fur valance and bottle lights for example

It wrapped up just before 2, we hiked to our favorite "vault" pub just down from the hotel for a beer then back to the room so Prince could rest and I caught up on the blog finally.

Around 3 we took the hotel bikes out for a ride. This decision turned into a late night of adventures! We first road along the river turning around at the yacht club.

hard to see but the train goes thru the hill with graffiti ed tunnel that I suspect is a home to somethings

On the way back we saw a windy road up the hill to upper Quebec so took it. WHAT a ride this turned out to be, we needed a bit more fitness training but made it.

check out the gorgeous colors and size of their maple leafs

finally made it to the top of the grueling hill to the citadel

Our bike tour once up there was entertaining finding us cruising thru brownstone housing where they park either direction on both sides, how crazy is that.
(look to the right mid parking for example)

We stopped for a happy hour beer at St Pats pub the bar tender seemed a bit grumpy (only French person we have met who did not try to e accommodating ) so after one beer there we rode on. We decided to go back to Papa George's for happy hour but ended up going next door to ??? Because of there outside heater. Here we tried onion rings and maple syrup, who knew they would be so good, and deep fried pickles in mustard sauce but the most unique Quebec drink.. a gin and tonic with maple whiskey .soooo good

Now Sheldon spotted the cubs game inside so we moved inside to watch it and continue the yummy gins and calamari now. The crowd here was very friendly and before we knew it we were taking part in group shooters on skis with locals and Americans.

Our server Maud showing us the yummy maple whiskey

We even headed back to our new local friends house, (a young 30 yr old couple) who loved to play crib. Simon rode my bike while Sara and I took a cab to their house as she had a bum knee and off of work. We payed crib and met their cats and learned about their lives here in Que. Eventually we took a cab up to the club district to a little hole in the wall with live guitar entertainment. Yep it was already 1 when we left and now almost 3 when we found a cab, dropped them back at their house and got our bikes back to the hotel just at 3 am! What a day!
