Up early (4:45 was the first alarm but managed to get past it and the 5 am too) at 5:30 we had dogs and horses fed and out the yard by 6 heading to the airport. Glen and Roxy met us at the gate and the adventure began. It sure is a quick flight over to the island, not even a movie's worth but being greeted by green and color and sunshine was lovely. Everything went smoothly grabbing our booked car and quickly we were on our way to
Sidney for the first stop for breakfast on the ocean. We walked the wharf before venturing south to Victoria.
First stop there was to check into our
Fairmont Empress hotel. So many tulips and flowers, perfect birthday bouquet everywhere.
magnolia trees were so pretty in bloom
The day continued walking the city and stopping for beverages and snacks at many places such as
The Flying Otter, taking a water taxi over to
Fishermans wharf (NOTE, family friendly non licensed area but in the works)
a stroll on the
walkway around the bay stopping next at
Santiago's Cafe for happy hour and more snacks.
The loop took us back to the Empress for happy hour beverages and appetizers (caviar over seared tuna anyone?) there followed by supper at the Cactus Club.
It ended up being a fairly early night back to the hotel by 11 PST but there was a few blurry eyed travelers needing rest. The
hotel had delivered this sweet piece of cake to the room to be enjoyed tomorrow as very full from a day of eating and drinking. Sheldon was asleep within minutes of hitting a very comfy bed. I caught an episode of Outlander before calling it a night.
