more projects.. more problems

Wednesday was a great day for projects. I put another coat of paint on the jewel box, distressed, then clear and dark waxed and reassembled staging for a few pictures to share with the client.

I also sanded and scrubbed the next dresser on the paint lineup and after seeing the great wood, discussed a change of plans with her, I will now be staining most of this pretty wood and adding color just to the base.

A curvy wood shelf that had a repair done yesterday (taking it off the demo line for paint class as it was not dry in time) got painted, distressed and waxed up too.

The sun came out after lunch and was plus 11. I took a break to walk the dogs. You still needed a headband as it was breezy.
someone is in a hurry for lunch!

I checked the mineral/salt tubs to find empty but as I was going to get refills I thought I would take a walk around the house. Low and behold yet another young tree was shredded. I was so pissed as I wanted Sheldon to find me the weeping tile and help put on but put off as I thought maybe Lola lost interest in the trees and because the days were filled with projects. What a BAD idea that was. This most recent was a young apple tree I had been babying and I see the sister honey crisp had a few marks. With flames blowing out my ears I stomped around the Fred Sandford patch until I found this corrugated plastic myself and hauled the 100' to each tree. I cut a length and sawed in half then stretched around the 5 youngest trees as careful as I could with only 2 hands to help. I even covered the 4 shredded ones in hopes they just maybe will be able to survive but with most of the bark stripped completely off for a good foot, it is not likely. Should stick to horse rescue I guess. ;(
 ee gads!

if only this was put on before $350 fancy grafted tree was shredded, sorry cats for blaming you but I think you did scratch it up after the naughty puppy chewed it. below is my Mcgyver barrier for the branch made from a yogurt lid and electrical tape
I came in and posted my quandary on a maremma site. lots of good ideas came up, one I had thought of was one, hot pepper so I mixed up franks red hot and cayenne powder and put in a spray bottle. Nope the powder plugged the nozzle so I poured in a jar and brushed on. Guess who followed me and licked off the mix? So back to the drawing board.  Next suggestion, Vicks Vaporub on the bark.. best get a case!
Not long later I looked out to check on her and saw this! Looks like a shark attack. So I put D inside and gave her a frozen bone, brr too cold, she left it on the deck to warm but eventually she took to chewing on it. I text Britt to get more dog food as well as carrots. The group says frozen carrots are great teethers, which they say is most likely what is the problem.

I spent a great deal of time chatting with other maremma owners and will continue to look for alternative chew items, wonder if Sheldon would notice a few sheds missing?? They say they are great to chew along with raw bones.. where is hunting season when you need it.

Britt kindly grabbed dog food on her way home from work and working out, good job B, she then proceeded to make her most recent cooking acquisition, pancakes! todays had chocolate chip and bananas!
