rain finally .. with a wee hail

Friday had an early start with Prince Ali delivering me coffee in bed before 8.. only because he was making it for a buddy coming over to pick up bales and have a conflab! but Thanks Prince! I worked on sorting bathroom cabinets until they headed out to load. Then it was time to move on to accounting, blogging and laundry! Sheldon made about 6 trips to town for clay and began the process of putting base in the riding arena. Britt who did not get up till noon putzed around doing dishes and joining us for homemade oyster soup for lunch before off to work at 3.

 weather looking looming

Amanda dropped the kids off right around 4 to head out for a kid less supper. The weather was looking odd just before and just after they left and Sheldon was home with his 7th load the rain finally arrived. It did bring a wee bit of hail but the rain was welcome. Sheldon had to hole up in the shop until it passed but it came with some fierce wind prior too. Luckily he put all the vehicles in the shop in time.
 then BOOM!

We spent the evening after a fun spaghetti supper watching Lilo & Stitch, Spirit and Tarzan 2. Britt joined us when she got home from work. Amanda and Craig were back from their 5th anniversary date just as the last one was finishing up at 10. Happy Anniversary you two!! We enjoyed a celebration beverage and visit before they took Ada home around 11:30, Asher was most excited to have his first sleepover bringing his pillow and toothbrush even.

Saturday, Asher was up early but snuggled in bed with me until he and I got up after 8. This time I brought special coffee to the Prince but he kept sleeping. Asher and I fed the horses and took the quad to find tubs that blew to far SE corner of the field. seems we had 6/10ths rain and that is not counting the sideways portion of the rain!! Once up, Sheldon worked on pushing dirt around in the shop after getting all vehicles out in the sun. When Britt got up she joined too and worked for over 3 hours hustling. I was wondering why so helpful but then remembered she wants to have friends over for a campfire tonight!
A fellow arrived to purchase the buffet at noon and soon after Paetz's arrived to pick up master Asher. I worked on garden, organizing the ever messy pantry, cleaned out the horse trailer back portion and unpacked another new coffee pot. This one claims it can be many strengths! Guess we will see in the morning, the old one got yet another thorough cleaning. To go along with the steak supper I prepared fresh beets, potatoes, carrots and onions but once again forgot the fresh Taber corn!!

After grading the road Sheldon came in to watch the Stamps game and barbecue steaks. He finished the game in the TV room while Britt set up her fire area with music and chairs and such.
Sheldon and I went out for a bit of fire time before her other friends arrived for the evening. Two girls stayed the night giggling till about 5 am making for one sleepy Britt the next morning!

  1. Gordon dropped off the raquet and ball just after I arrived at 5 p.m. yesterday. Came home the Alberta way - 183 miles from home to camp going Burstall and 171 coming home the other way and an hour shorter (of course did not stop at Subway coming home.) Fueled in Dunmore. Beautiful weather but a handful of horse. My knee now back in same shape as before Dr. Piper so don't know how the week will go ;-(
