It was a beautiful sunny morning. Har went out early at 3:30 and was put in the kennel afterwards, so I didn't wake up until before 9. After giving her medication and breakfast, I brought the prince his coffee in bed. Then, I got to work on my marketing and updating product links. The weather was so pleasant that I persuaded S to go outside where it was sunny and windless, and he finally agreed, going out to do more grading on the road. I also ordered some adorable running shoe-styled slippers for the Stout girls' babies from my talented sister.
I sanded the coffee table another round and glued the other side of the antique fold-down table. Then, I started making soup with turkey bones and a chicken carcass, after enjoying the last bit of chicken in a sandwich. S finished up the leftover beef dinner as well when he came in from grading.
I began assessing the nightstands, and to my dismay, the one that resembled our bedroom suite—which I had hoped to use as a test piece—was actually veneer over MDF. This is acceptable to work on, but unfortunately, someone had applied a thick layer of oil/grease to the drawer slides. It was a mess, but I managed to clean it off the sides of one drawer. Then, I realized I would need to scrub all the inside rails and the top drawer too. Coupled with the chipped top veneer, it simply wasn't worth my time. I posted both to give away, and someone is coming to get them.
I coaxed S out of 'big brown' where he was engrossed in a spreadsheet at 2 AM. I persuaded him that it could be done in the dark, and he proceeded to set up the Christmas lights. The weather today was ideal for the task. S moved the nightstands to the gate for pickup. Meanwhile, I carried on with other projects and settled on the 6-drawer pine dresser for the table.
I cleaned the item after removing hardware, then proceeded with repairs and wood filling, planning to paint it grey. The process was time-consuming due to the grime, extensive repairs, and significant filling required. Meanwhile, S took Har for a much-needed walk to the neighboring old buildings that were buried. These granaries provided the wood for our coffee table, and we're fortunate to have reclaimed it before their demolition.
An Amazon parcel arrived, as the horses were out had it left there, so he collected it at the gate with the ranger. The golden hour was stunning. He managed to install most of the deck and rail lights. I finished up around 5 pm and came in to complete the soup preparation. S kindly picked the meat off the bones for me, which I appreciate. It resulted in yet another delicious batch—we certainly enjoy our homemade soups. I also prepared a tasty goat cheese salad to accompany it. As we dined, the Christmas lights turned on, prompting Harley to bark, mistaking them for intruders—quite amusing.
After dinner, we headed out for a soak in the hot tub followed by a shower. S browsed the internet before the Flames game while I prepared yogurt health bowls and then returned to writing today's blog. I also squeezed in a quick Spanish lesson to maintain my 34-day streak. Afterwards, I relaxed in bed watching the new season of Outer Banks. Later, when S joined me, we watched some episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer.
