This morning, frost blanketed the grass, and the temperature was -2 degrees as I woke up before 8, a true sign of autumn. I started the coffee and scrolled through Instagram. Britt began her day off early at 9:30, unloading feed, with Dave following soon after. I stepped outside in my housecoat to request Britt call Shaina, who had discovered an infected wrinkle on Lexi and sought the correct care procedure. After treating Basil, Dave departed to transport 10 horses north for today's race. Britt released the horses, including Roo in her mask, before returning home.
I sectioned a bison heart into four parts for Harley's meals and went on to make chia coconut pudding, after having my protein bowl. S dedicated the morning to online research and phone calls, tweaking the chicken water system plans to integrate a hydrant. For lunch, I picked fresh carrots and kohlrabi to go with the chicken wrap S crafted, featuring fresh cucumber and tomato. The end of fresh vegetables will soon be felt sadly. I set the chicken carcass Shaina provided last weekend to simmer.
On this sunny 11-degree day, I trimmed the dahlias and labeled them for storage. S made a trip to town for the hydrant. Post-dahlia work, I paused for a Spanish lesson. Returning to the garden, I continued harvesting and cleaning up. About an hour later, S returned, ready for a refreshing beer break. I proceeded to chop vegetables for the chicken soup.
He transported items to Matt's while I vacuumed with my newly delivered weighted vest, which is said to aid in building bone density. I prepared two apple crisps with our delicious apples and placed them in the oven. The cores, along with the carrot tops and ends, were given to the mares, and the remaining scraps were buried for the worms. Upon returning, S connected the travel trailer ,after retrieving his clothes, to store it in the shop.
B was back out at 5 and fed the mares, allowing S to park the trailer in the shop. He also stored the remaining equipment, preparing for winter. I completed the soup with noodles, ready to be enjoyed when he returned. B rode and trimmed Roo, then fed the others. I assisted her by holding Basil for his leg wrap application before she and Cooper left after 7.
S settled in to watch hockey, anticipating the Flames' game at 8. I placed an order for our vitamin D supplements, which are essential for everyone, and decided to include creatine in our health regimen. Later, I went to bed to watch health videos on YouTube and listened to a couple of podcasts, but exhaustion took over, and I turned off the lights. S stayed up until around 11:30, thrilled with another Flames victory.
