Fall weather day

Upon waking, I engaged in additional Spanish lessons with my 24-hour no-ad bonus that ended at 9, enjoying coffee in bed. Once completed, it was time to feed Harley, who had missed dinner due to our late return the previous evening. My next task was to catch up on marketing tasks, which included posting the tutorial for the black press-back dining chairs I finished last week. Meanwhile, S leisurely ate his porridge and caught up with the morning news before leaving for work at Matt's after 10. I endeavored to catch up on the blog, which I was days behind on. During a break, I let three horses out into the hayfield, then returned to the house to close all gates. While outside, I fed Dave's horses a scoop of food each.

I continued working on the blogs when Dave came to take Suzi and Basil to Moore's for a leg examination. I helped him catch and load them, with Basil being very cooperative. I also took care of the gates, allowing him to leave the yard since the horses were close by. The whole herd was stirred up and running around, but Dave managed to leave for Moore's without issue. Later, I harvested some carrots for lunch and installed the watering system for them. S returned soon after, and I made tuna sandwiches, served with a cold beer and fresh carrots for our meal.

He stepped right in like a champ

I headed to the garage to start work. The first task was sanding the school desk pieces for an hour. Needing a break, I turned my attention to the custom antique dresser. This dresser was in poor condition, with missing hardware, broken wood panels, and damaged drawer runners. Only one drawer bottom was intact, and the escutcheon plates over the keyholes were gone. I removed the hardware and started a thorough cleaning, which was much needed because it was extremely dirty.

Dave came back with the patient, who now needs to be isolated in the round pen with two weeks of bed rest prescribed. He has done the equivalent to a human tearing his MCL. Dave prepared buckets of water to place inside while I began to dig up a mound of potatoes, just as the sun emerged. Although it was only 16 degrees, the sunshine made it feel much warmer. He left to attend to his barn, and I carried on with my gardening.

I returned to work on the dresser, applying wood filler to various areas and attempting to fix the broken and missing side panel. I offered the customer the choice of filling the keyholes or using some wooden escutcheons I had available, and she opted for the former.

By 5 pm, I finished up, leaving everything to dry thoroughly, fed the dogs and went inside to update the blog, completing and posting Sunday's entry. Afterward, I brought the horses in and prepared the beet pulp for B before cooking dinner. S arrived home from his job at 6:30, just as I began another Spanish lesson following a quick vacuuming session. I dined while he browsed on his laptop, then returned to my computer tasks. He had his meal as the hockey game commenced. Britt and Dave were out after 7 to attend to the horses and off for supper in half hour.

Once they left, I went for a soak in the hot tub to ease my back, which tends to get sore from sitting too long or wearing the weighted vest. It was crazy, there were about 70 bees drowned in the hot tub I had to scoop out and S took as many out earlier in the day. After a shower, it was time for bed, where I watched health videos and S enjoyed his Flames game in the TV room. I also sampled the chia pudding I prepared a few days ago, and it was quite delicious. I turned off the lights early. After S came to bed past 11, he got up again after midnight for a shower, feeling that he smelled like a chicken coop.
