I woke up to Cooper jumping on the bed and frost covering the hot tub. Happy birthday Dave!! Good luck at the races today. Naturally, the day began with coffee in bed. With the sun shining, it was time to tackle the remaining laundry. I focused on marketing and accounting, while S indulged in his usual porridge and internet browsing. He did help read off the credit card bill while I balanced it, thanks.
He left for Matt's at 11 to continue building the chicken coop, while I redid my nails, watching "The Cowboy Way" on my iPad. We enjoyed the leftover soup for lunch upon his return. Then, I let the horses out, accompanied by the dog posse, in the now 11-degree weather. As S headed to town to purchase wire from Home Hardware, I spent another hour on the phone with customer service, this time for Tim's, trying to locate the online gift card - still no answer. I'm hoping Dave receives it but later in the day he confirmed he did. Enjoy!
I composed a Hometalk post for the white magazine rack as clouds brought overcast skies. The dogs were sent out with a frozen treat but quickly returned. After working on tutorials, I paused to practice my Spanish on Duolingo. S returned from his wire hunt with Tim's iced coffees and pumpkin-spiced muffins I'd ordered online after 3:30. He devoured his share and resumed his chicken coop work at 4, while I finished folding the laundry. Shortly after, my customers arrived to collect a custom-painted antique dresser.
They departed around 4:30, just as the sun emerged. After feeding the dogs, I went out to dig up a hill of potatoes. Despite the sunny illusion and 12-degree temperature, a brisk breeze made it feel cooler. The golden hour highlighted the dog hair, and Cooper was generous with his shedding, prompting me to vacuum—an OCD necessity for me. I managed to tidy and vacuum my desk too. S came back at 6, and I began simmering the still-frozen bison. However, he had forgotten his gloves and returned to work until it was dark. Meanwhile, I kept busy uploading videos from my phone to clear space.
S arrived home after 7 while I was burying compost and chopping fresh herbs for my veggie hamburger stew. Britt showed up just as I was finishing it up. I dashed outside to assist her with Basil's bandage, then returned inside to dine. S had already begun eating, watching the ball game. The stew turned out delicious and yet another fresh garden potato, tomato, and zucchini creation. B fed everyone, including Bird's leisurely snack time. She joined us for a few servings of dinner too around 8:30. I waterproofed S's new cowboy boots that he planned to wear to the bar in Langdon to see his friend Robby and family. Both he and Britt departed before 9.
After completing today's blog post, I settled in bed to watch television. I wrapped up season 1 of The Cowboy Way and began season 2. S returned home after 11 pm and joined me, enjoying a bowl of cereal. We turned off the lights at 1 am.
