Market projects continue

Just before 5 am, scratching sounds awakened us. S checked the deck but found nothing; it turned out to be the glass balls inside, rubbing against the blinds as the natural breeze acted like an air conditioner. A cool 13 degrees set the stage for the day, which was forecasted to usher in another heatwave. We had our customary coffee in bed before starting the day. I engaged in marketing and blog posting, while S left for Matt's at 9:30 following his porridge.

this is last nights garden tidy

I'm facing a time crunch for the only market event I participate in annually. The top and base of the magazine rack didn't match, so I applied two coats of the same white paint. Reassembling it once dry was challenging. I ponder if disassembling it for painting was worth it. Inserting all the spindles into the top and bottom holes without scratching the paint wasn't easy. Despite the struggle, I managed to do it and left it to dry. Afterwards, I went outside to turn on the soaker hoses in the gardens.

S hung the solar lanterns yesterday and they look great

I brought out another MDF/wood table I recently received and chose a color and design for it. It's time to update my list and price and tag new items. After hauling things up from downstairs, the main room now looks chaotic. I had thought about meeting Shaina and Renn at the zoo this afternoon, but I realized I have much more to do than anticipated, especially with the booth cost going up. I really need to sell some items to even break even on booth cost.

I was enjoying a sandwich when S returned from chicken coop duty at noon. After lunch, S packed up his hockey gear and left for town at 1 PM. Meanwhile, I carried on with my tagging and recording tasks. Upon inspecting the black table, I noticed the legs needed attention due to the chalk paint revealing fingerprints and such. I took it outside and gave it a fresh coat of black paint with built in sealer. The other table required its legs to be tightened, followed by a thorough hand sanding, wiping, and then, I applied a layer of green paint. Once back inside, I proceeded to touch up the white magazine rack.

original plans

I completed and submitted my monthly paint order and returned to arranging my market goods. The temperature is rising to 27 degrees from a brisk 13 this morning, and it's expected to become even hotter over the next five days. I sorted more items from last year, reduced prices on some, and tagged others for addition to the inventory lists. A wooden platter received a beeswax treatment for rehydration, and the magazine rack required staging.

Meanwhile this is what was happening at the zoo today

sometimes it is the simplest things that entertain

The table received a second coat of green paint, but upon examining the transfer now removed from the bag, it appears too large. Pivot! S returned home from "work" after 6 while I was finishing tasks in my garage. We enjoyed a cold beer and caught up over a leftover roast beef dinner.

S's stair build

It's time to head outside for more gardening. S mowed the laneway, then the approach and gate area before returning. Afterwards, he brought the skid steer to collect all of my trimmings. I pruned some large branches from the apple trees using his new saw, adding them to the pile. The truck was then attached to the dump trailer, and the piles of debris were loaded up.

Britt was out with Cooper to feed and managed a few gates for S. She left for home before 9, while I was back to the garage to work on the table. After reviewing my transfers, I selected one that seemed more suitable. I returned inside before 10, just as Sheldon finished disposing of the manure. We then enjoyed a soak in the hot tub, followed by our customary reading and internet browsing with a yogurt bowl before turning in for the night.
