Chore day

Brrr, it was a chilly 9 degrees when I woke up as Dave was driving in at 8. It seems there was a bit of rain overnight, but not much. He fed horses and left as I made coffee and crawled back into bed to browse Instagram. Once S woke up, he had his coffee followed by his porridge. We had a cleaning morning with him running the vacuum around while I scrubbed the slime marks off the sills, walls, and doors. He then cleaned the bathrooms while I scrubbed the dirty hardwood floors. Thanks S, team work makes the clean work.

I realized I had forgot a few videos for Sunday's post, so I added them this morning and completed the blog for yesterday. After going through additional paint supplies to list, I shellacked my toenails. Meanwhile, S organized the recyclables, and I swept the floor.

After lunch we both headed outside to work on finishing mulching the trees. Dave was out to borrow the dump trailer to I got to work on the trees and S joined me once he was on his way leaving Cooper. We did 11 trees finishing up all the wood mulch we had left.

you know you have a strong north wind when you trees grow to the south east

The weather was cool and breezy but that helped. I trimmed many of the trees as we went too. S then got out the weed eater and went around many of the over grown areas. I weeded the garden and took apart the burlap fence I created but now degrading as the garden was watered. Some of the evergreen trees had many spider nests killing branches so S got out the pressure washer and sprayed them.

Weeding seems endless with a yard and gardens this big, dandelions were fed to the horses while S sprayed. Afterwards, he hopped on the lawnmower and tended to the yard, now that the temperature had dropped. Some areas hadn't grown due to the heat, yet others were long and shaggy in the shade. I moved four bales down from the mezzanine, then swept the loose hay into the feed tub from the mezzanine, stairs, and barn floor. Next, I turned to gardening, harvesting beets, onions, zucchini, and kohlrabi for supper. I began cooking, paused to water the front planters, but S took over while I returned to the kitchen.

Dinner was yet another delightful meal made from garden treats, although it was late, not starting until after 7 PM. B didn't come out until after 8, and of course, it's getting dark earlier now. S went to Matt's to retrieve his coat that he had left behind. Dave came by to return the dump trailer. After completing their chores, they went home, taking Cooper with them. We were finishing up in the hot tub when the rain began at 9. After a shower, it was off to bed to read while the rain carried on for a while, with the new gauge recording 0.05 of an inch—better than nothing. I finally finished season 7 of McLeod's Daughters on my iPad as S slept.
