Home bound slowly

Hallelujah, the wind had ceased and the water was tranquil as we awoke just after 8, proceeding with our routine coffee and taking Harley out for her pee. What a difference a day can make. Yet, after taking her out and feeding her, as we savored our yogurt bowls outdoors, the winds began to pick up. The water was mirror-like, but by the time the Paetz family emerged from their trailer, it had grown choppy, unsuitable for paddle boarding. The boys, too, hadn't risen early to fish and missed that opportunity.

S and I walked Harley through the calmer and warmer inner and easterly sites, reaffirming our preference for the sites around the main beach as the best ones to aim for in the future. Upon our return, we found the kids outside, AJ packing up, and C preparing his three packages of bacon for his tribe.

We started packing up, with me handling most of the indoor tasks and S taking care of the outside. I prepared a couple of Dagwood cheese buns and a beer for his lunch as we were finishing up. Craig noticed cracks and wear on the other front tire—quite alarming! After we all set off, we decided to skip the congested sewer dump line and emptied our grey water at a well site to lighten the load, with us choosing to travel home at 90 KPH to be safe. The Paetz family chose to wait in line before they commenced their journey home.

We got back to the ranch just after 2 PM. After a swift unpacking of the essentials, I spent an hour and a half assessing wind damage ( 4 sunflowers blown over and loads of apples off the trees) and watering all the planters, beds, and gardens. S gathered more boxes of apples that had been knocked off the tree by the wind. B had already picked two boxes yesterday, for which I am very thankful!

So many apples still on the ground

While I was in the garden Basil came over to say hi and get a scratch

B and Cooper arrived around 4. She and I took a ride around our property and then through the winery. S had gone inside to rest in his big brown chair and continue his tire search. After returning from our delightful ride, I prepared fresh zucchini, herbs, and onions, while S grilled burgers on the BBQ. We enjoyed this meal with potato salad, and Britt joined us for dinner. After eating, she and Cooper headed home.

I engaged in some marketing, then returned outside to tend to the plants. Later, we indulged in a hot tub session before settling into bed to read a book I'm quite enjoying, which I forgot to mention, is titled "The Briar Club." I fell asleep early around 9:30 I think as did S, busy weekend I guess :)
