Cooler day finally

The day began with a cool 13 degrees and blustery winds but soon warmed up to 18 degrees. Dave was out to feed the mares and foals. After placing a pallet in his truck, S loaded a bale and then D headed off to the track. S came in for coffee. I noticed magpies eating the feed, so I stored it in the garage shed until they were hungry again, checked on Switch - Britt's bandaging skills are top notch, and turned on both garden soakers.

I managed to work on marketing and update yesterday's blog. S took the tractor back to town for its scheduled repair today. I went to pick him up at 11, then returned to complete the blog. The temperature has reached 21 and continues to rise but a reprieve from the recent heatwave.

Following a leftover roast beef lunch, S decided to spray the yard, which I felt was unwise due to the strong winds, but he was determined. He also sprayed along the roadside edges. I removed a large number of rose hips that had been affected by yesterday's intense winds. Additionally, the front planters received some hand watering. We weighed the pros and cons of our planned camping trip to K country Sunday amid the fires and smoke. The system imposes hefty fees for cancellations, which increase as the date approaches. S had already called off our Wednesday night plans, as it would have been a rush to reach Calgary, babysit with the trailer parked at the mall, and manage Harley. Moreover, S wished to be set up at the grounds early for the big weekend. Consequently, he cancelled everything, resulting in a loss of nearly half our booking cost. We also cancelled our wiener roast tonight with the Paetz family as the wind is insane and no river float as too cool. Go figure!

It's time to kick off some new projects, with my sole market event just six weeks away. It's hard to believe that September is almost upon us. I've begun working on the round table I acquired some time ago. I removed the sticky residue from the top and then scraped the stenciled feathers until they were smooth. Next, I power-sanded the surface before applying a coat of soft green paint to complement the floral transfer I had selected for it.

S misplaced the ranger's hitch ball, and it's nowhere to be found—though it's certainly here somewhere. ;) Next, the laptop beckoned with its online marvels, offering a pause for a leftover roast supper. Those potatoes are simply delicious.

B was out at her regular time and began the evening with a ride. I caught Switch, administered bute, removed her leg bandages, and hosed her leg before giving her a rest until B finished riding. Afterwards, I hosed her leg again, washed with betadine, rinsed, and brought her to Dr. B for rebandaging. Dave was outside training Basil. I fetched Lindy for him, and then B joined him to train Cash. Meanwhile, S was indoors, browsing the newly listed items on the online auction.

After they left, we decided to relax in the hot tub. Although it was a cooler evening and the tub was at 97 degrees, it was still pleasant until we got out. We then began watching "I am Celine Dion," but S fell asleep, and I turned it off halfway through.
