Praise the Lord for another morning filled with sunshine and devoid of wind. After enjoying coffees and porridge, I managed to finish and post a blog. On May 31, Shaina moved out of downtown. Dressed in my fluffy housecoat, I watered the front planters. Today marks Archer's 8th birthday—happy cake day, Archie! <3
Today is also my first official day of babysitting Renn. In a rush to catch up on some online tasks, I posted about the stool that sold yesterday and the coffee table set to be picked up today. The stool will be collected at Kaylin’s, so I loaded it, along with a South America map, the table, and two leaves, into the car. I walked Harley, knowing she'd be indoors all day, while S lounged on the couch, engrossed in his phone.
We departed at 10:30, taking a bowl of cottage cheese and pineapple for my on-the-go breakfast. Our plan to drive through town and put up the 'for sale' sign was thwarted by news of a water main break in Calgary causing delays on 16th Avenue, so we proceeded directly to the city. We arrived at the planned time of 11:30. The table was promptly unloaded and settled into its new home. Nathan went to his meetings, Kaylin had already fed Renn and left for work, leaving S and me to enjoy an afternoon with Renn.
Once back at Kaylin's, we moved to the deck to enjoy our salads. I set up the water table and added a big bowl of water as per the water restrictions, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
She was tucked into her cozy sleep sack, lulled by songs and cuddles before her 3 PM nap. It took a few extra lullabies, but she fell asleep shortly after. Meanwhile, I penned today's blog as S arranged some rodeo panel work. The stool and map ladies came for their pickups past 3:30. On my Creative Moments page, I informed Calgary buyers about the summer pickup option. Kaylin returned home past 4. Later, S and I departed, with him driving to Strathmore in Shaina's Jeep, while I headed home. Navigating through the Glenmore rush hour was dreadful, but I arrived by 5:30. After feeding Harley and checking on the plants, S got home at 6, having placed the for-sale sign in the condo window, picked up a new basil plant from the library, bought a rotisserie chicken for dinner, and redeemed his DQ points for a free Blizzard, bringing one for me as well.
I snacked on it while the quinoa was cooking, then we savored our supper, and I topped it off with the blizzard for dessert. Thanks! It feels strange not to have hockey on the TV every night. Britt arrived, so I went out to ride with her. It was a pleasant evening, albeit a little windy, which helped keep the bugs at bay, though there were still a few around. S listed the rental online and spent some time reading his book. After our ride, I weeded the garden before heading inside. Tonight was dedicated to reading as I joined S in bed with our books.
