Wedding ring lost

this sweet painting hangs above the bed

After coffee and pineapple ( + a tuna croissant for the big guy) we loaded up for a days adventure heading out by 10:30. First stop was to exchange the Jeep for a different one. Of course it was not as simple as the lady suggested yesterday but after a half hour we were on the road this time with a flashy red one.

love this street corner .. Nani Kalua ;0)

Our first beach adventure was one suggested by a co worker of Sheldon’s. Kekaha Kai state park, we went to Ka’elehuluhulu (Mahai’ula to the north looked nicer but we were to lazy to walk to it)  It was an nice beach but right near the airport so lots of planes overhead. And the drive in is crazy rough thru solid lava fields. A kind Hawaiian gave us some avocados to try. After spending a couple hours here we were off to try another.

this is the road in

and the planes flying overhead

that is Maui in the distance

S snorkels but it was only so so

perhaps this fisherman was netting them all

The next one I was sure I read was near mile marker 88 and when we turned in the guards said it was all private residential but when I asked if there was a beach nearby he said oh sure, here is your pass ;) Now this beach was worth it, it was so pretty. (Kikaua - kee- cow-uh)

We found a lovely spot and were relaxing when a lady walked by saying there were some sea turtles nearby. Of course we had to go see.

Can you see the turtles in these pictures?

There was a water channel back to the beach that S took while I took the lava racks back to our towels. I ventured out in the water and saw some favourite yellow black fish and when I was telling S to come look when he said he lost his wedding ring. (not the original near 29 year old one but rather the one I got him 8 years ago)

The trek back to the Jeep where we left the snorkel gear was quite a hike so I asked a lady not far away to borrow hers and ran it to him. He searched for over half an hour with no luck, the ocean is richer was his take as we left at 4 heading for home. (see his last photo wearing it above on the lava - on his right hand)

The evening was lovely esp with a slushy pina colada. I suggested trying the pool but I only made thigh high brr to chilly for me so off to the beach chairs to watch the sunset while he swam.

After his swim, S napped of course. There were clouds today blocking the sunset so we put supper together while we watched the tail end which turned out amazing as always. KING CRAB  legs and ribs with Asian salad were so delicious!!!

I hit the shower and worked on blog catch up while S watch the LA game on TV and listened to the flames streaming online ;) We then watched a blue planet ocean episode on Netflix, perfect for our latest adventures.
