The nightstand was now dry so a coat of wax was next in the order, such a smooth product to use too. It went on very fast and now needs to dry 2 hours minimum. The resist product does not seem to be working well but that is ok as I was liking the variegated look better so I guess sometimes things work out.
such a cute marketing and tin and it stirs up so smooth
the wax deepens the colors and gives a pretty shine, see the variegation?
but upon putting drawers in I was not liking the drawer insides even after scrubbed so well, time for paint a pretty green
There was a short rain shower before I was off to town to pick up what I thought was a children's table and chair set. However once I arrived for pickup it was an antique regular size that needs a ton of work ;( Oh well, I managed to load it myself and get on with a few errands, grabbing lunch and heading back to the ranch. I had taken the trash so stopped to grab mail and toss it and low and behold there was another dresser in the furniture dumpster ;) This load had a kind helper, thanks.
Back at the ranch, the sun was peeking out just a bit and not for long but enough time to head out and check the horse salt, put up a few fallen rails and grab Sheldon's better drill as his old one that I got stinks ;/ (oh and the cats followed me out yesterday and today so stopped to feed them, Britt did you forget them too??) Back with the power drill I now got busy installing new hardware, how I love power tools. And even without the right counter sink drill bit, I managed to free hand another go get the screws to reach.
It seems I made a mistake finishing up the last of the milk paint on the edges as it really created chippiness. This is a huge part of milk paint, it does what it wants! And for not wanting chippy I should have used the bonding agent ;(
chipping then sanded to reveal ;/
The drawers were touched up again inside and body buffed and will dry overnight before last step. The coffee table was sanded again and a new batch of paint made with bonding agent to go around the edges. Applied and left to dry I sure hope this works and wont have to sand it all off and start again. My day has had some paint struggles but tomorrow is a new day!
