road trip

The sound of coffee grinding woke me just before 8, someone was excited to make a road trip today. The rain was coming down and at only 2 turning to snow flakes. They melted at touchdown but there is lots of moisture. It took a bit to get everything organized but by 9:45 we were pulling out of the yard with the truck and load of bales. We had to go thru town and fill with fuel then headed to Hanna for out first stop.

Dr Dave kindly came in on a Sunday to adjust my bite then took us on a tour of the new 5600 sq ft dental clinic being built. FANCY.. this will be a fantastic cutting edge office. We tried the new Tim Horton's just open with a 20 minute chaotic time frame to get teas and some snacks. The rain had quit just before Hanna and by Oyen it was occasionally sunny. I am pretty sure it has been 15 years since I traveled this stretch of road and not much has changed. At the 9/41 corner we turned and saw a splashy flame painted old truck. Knowing Britt was looking for old trucks, I text Dale as to seller if her knew. Of course he did. But details did not follow till later.

We stopped at Mom and Dad's for lunch then Dad jumped in with Sheldon and off to the valley they went. Mom and I visited over tea then did a yard tour to see all flowers and baby calves before making a quick trip to town. We dug up tulip bulbs and a peony of Grandma's and arrived back home just before the bison scavengers got back.

Another short visit and we decided to go for Chinese food before heading home, plans to have a Game of Thrones night with the Paetz's. However these plans changed when Dale sent all the truck details. We made a detour to look at it and after a bit of convincing, Sheldon jumped in, took across the road to fill with gas then back to town to sign papers. The truck has only been stored so was burning rich fuel and the idle was off. Lucky there was a mechanic we knew who could pop the hood and make it run like a dream in not long. Thanks Day!!

A call to our insurance guy had him there in about 5 minutes, only in a small town right? A beer and papers signed and it was time to head home as it was now 8:30. The rain started back up just after crossing hwy 36 and continued till home. Some areas the high speed wipers could not even keep up. The show and shiner had a hard time with old school lighting and wipers but we made it home by 11:30. I checked and we had an inch of rain! Britt worked today but was awake waiting to see the new truck, even wanting to go for a drive but think that can wait till tomorrow. ;)

Sheldon hauled the stinky heads off into the trees and hit the shower, I caught up on missed messages and finally the lights went off at 1 am, quite the road trip day in May! Thanks Mom and Dad for lunch and supper! and to Dale for his mechanical expertise!
