antique desks done

Sheldon was off in the dark again catching his flight north. As Britt was off to school the day was hazy but as I finished up posting my new antique desk pictures  around 11,the sun started to burn thru. I staged it with a yellow chair from Great Grandma Thompson's collection but will paint it up blue like the inside of the desk. It seems Sheldon and I may have raised it a bit to high but what a fantastic feature they had to accommodate all size kids! I LOVE this desk especially the old wrought iron base.

Best part of today, NO WIND!! knock on wood, time to go outside and work up the garden I think and feed old man Ju!

Well apparently the wind heard I was coming out and picked up to its normal for lately 50 km/hr ;( but I did get all the flower beds and gardens cleaned out as well as an hour of dog dung control then took them for a walk to the pit to dump the crap wagon. Time for a cold beverage and late lunch now.

before and after!
all raised beds looking ready and below signs of spring, tulips and my ever hard Japanese fern leaf peonies! A couple things survived the winter.. and deer, and dogs.. and cats :)
Since the wind howled for the rest of the day, I retreated to garage where I sanded and stripped furniture for a couple hours. The sun left too making for a miserable day, boo! drudgery chores filled the rest of the afternoon as I got stuff ready for the rummage sale drop off box. And of course when you make changes with Bell you will have to call back and go thru another half hour phone call to gets things totally changed ;)
this coffee table is beautiful solid wood but had a really shiny finish, I sanded and not much luck, so stripped it (2nd pic) put on a new 80 grit and sanded forever and thru 120 and 220 to a smooth finish. The scrolly sides got started on hand sanding but have a ways to go. I was thinking black top/ white base but now dark java I think and cream?? suggestions
and this vanity I thought java top but even after sanding, stripping and sanding again the primer still fills the oak grooves so may just got all the super light pink, will be really sleek design.

A wee rain squall moved in around 7 and spit for about an hour. I don't think much accumulated other than miserable blustery spittles but guess wont complain any moisture. It did drop quick from the high of 15 to 3 in no time. Britt worked after school getting home after 9. She has 12 days in a row but hoping to log them in as Starting Monday she needs Mondays for riding lessons and Tuesdays for ball.. and the occasional w/e for polox.
