last polox tourney - warning ; picture heavy :)

Bright and early we were up and loaded heading to our last polocrosse tournament of the year in Okotoks. Shaina and Lexi met us at the field. The day was lovely and the play fun. Sheldon and I did not have luck on our teams side but Shaina and Britt along with Irish Anna played hard losing the first game by 1 and winning the 2nd with amazing play. (and Shaina played completely ill - self induced mind you but pulled it off enjoying the breaks in between to try and recover)

nap time for Shaina and Sheldon
Shaina's horse be warmed up by her kind sister

There was sun and cold drink visiting before a yummy beef on a bun supper. Britt went back to the city for the night with Shaina and Sheldon and I headed back to the ranch to administer Diego's pills and wash up all the whites.

We also brought Daisy home to swap for Pepper but he was still off so she returned with us early Sunday morning meeting the girls there at 9 am. Both of us played the first games and both of us lost sadly but we enjoyed the sunny day and watching the last games before awards and heading home. Shaina and Lexi went back to the city.

After letting horses all out and unloading it was time for me to trim trees and quad the wheelbarrows to the pit while Sheldon ran to town for fuel as Britt got started swathing the 2nd cut by 4. She took a break for supper and was back out in the dark finishing after 9. More whites to soak and wash... whew! Sheldon and I watched yet another SOA without Shaina but getting close to end of season 3.

foggy start Friday

Friday before the long w/e, awoke to fog socked right in. Eventually it burned off and it was on with the day.

Britt ran Coco to town in the am for her haircut then worked 3-8. I put 3rd coat of paint on the bedroom furniture which once dry is ready to go. Sheldon and I ran to town to do a few errands, pick up Coco from her spa day as well as a quick stop at Amanda's to drop off her birthday present now they are back home.
Once back at the ranch it was time to get the rail project underway finishing at dusk as the mosquitoes chased us in but after a shower got another episode of SOA in :-)

During the day I also used the remnant paint in the sprayer to paint a chalkboard frame this fun bed room color.

Hereeee.....'s Johnny!

Thursday was a super early start with the alarm going off at 6:45. Britt and I are off to the city for her dermatologist appointment set for 8:15 close to Kaylin's apartment. Sheldon got up and made coffee and he and I moved my furniture out of the way in the shop so he could get his truck out. Today he is off to the farm to pick up his new to him tractor.

Britt dragged her heels a bit but traffic was nuts causing us to be half hour late getting to her appointment. We then sat for nearly an hour for the 5 minute visit. He quickly diagnosed her thumb to have Median canaliform dystrophy.

We had 15 minutes to get to my appointment with medium Margaret at 10 way down south. I dropped Britt off at edge of Southcenter so she could shop while I met with Margaret. It was another good reading and by 11:30 I was back at the mall to do a bit of shoping with Britt, grab some food and get back on the road. A quick stop for returns on way by Costco and rushing home.

After I dropped Britt at home and was on the road to town for my 2 pm appointment, I wondered why I never got a reminder call so called the accupunture office only to find they were gone on vacation. WTH, turn around and head home. Change clothes and spray paint the furniture one more time. Rain started off and on but the day only got to about 14 and dreary. We ended up with 1/10th of rain.

Britt was off to town a bit early to drop prescription and food bank donations off before her 4-9 gym work shift. I updated the blog waiting for the customers to arrive and pickup the numbered dresser.
Sheldon arrived back after a long day of driving around 7:30, joined me for barbecued ribs and relaxing evening getting in a SOA episode.

spraying - fields and furniture

Wednesday was a super busy hot 28 day. Up early and coffee served by the Prince started the plans. Soon I was out spray painting the bedroom set while Sheldon counted rails and getting them ordered then loaded bales to deliver. Around 11:30 as I was cooking the lunch the place went crazy; Britt was out the door into a jam packed car off to make Grad 2015 t shirts, Sheldon was just heading out to deliver bales when the sprayer arrived to treat the hay field. This left Shaina and I to eat then catch horses to condition.
 incandescent is the color name

Sheldon met us at the gate to jump on his trusty steed (wearing work boots and shorts :-)). Once the fabulous ride was over and hosed hosed and let go to roll it was time for Shaina to get ready for work at 3. Britt was back home eating lunch but was soon off to work for 2. Sheldon was off to town to get some parts to install power to the A/C (which I sure wish was working today as it hit 29!)
I fed the horses some more lettuce, they even eat out of each others mouth
I put the 2nd coat on the bedroom furniture.. so cute. During a break from wiring I had Sheldon video my ALS ice bucket challenge. It is the perfect day for it. I also did Sheldon's who was nominated while up north and needed some heat and courage. Perfect challenge for a hot day for a good cause! Again I challenge all reading to donate to ALS or any other disease research or charity!
that is not sweat but rather the ice bucket challenge cooling off water :-)

Sheldon had a co-worker who is going to help him wire the lighting in the shop stop out and bring along his girlfriend. We had an enjoyable evening visiting in the sunshine on the deck and then into the house once mozzies came out!
my owl candles arrived from a draw I won awhile back, thanks Jen from Fabulous Rubbish!
the pretty sun's setting view on the east side of the house at night! Shaina headed to Kaylin's after work where she is house sitting and Lexi care for a week while Kaylin and Aaron are vacationing in BC, have fun all! XOXO

Prince returns

Tuesday, sun was shining and I was up by 8.. got to love summer :) Around one, little miss Shaina came to sleep with me but her insomnia and tossing and turning and cruising around the house had me sending her to the basement around 5:30. I understand insomnia but know it was my last peaceful sleep for a week, today the prince returns!

I spent the morning doing boring accounting, fun waxing and table top top coating before hitting the mower to take down the recent rain induced growth. Britt was off to Matt's to finally get some mowing done at 11. This will be a good $$ week as she works at 4 today as well. Shaina was finally up and caught horses to condition. We each took another tourney horse with us for the warm ride in the glorious sun. Shaina was complaining it was too hot but I hushed her saying our summers are too short, enjoy!
even with scrubbing and rinsing you can find "grease" spots pull thru after painting.. so frustrating
here is the top painted, looks great but once the top coat varnish went on it too shows marks, grrrrr
Cold beer and egg salad crackers and it was back out to finish mowing. Although only 24, the clear skies and last few days in the clouds makes it seem warmer. I dropped Britt a cold drink around 3:30 on my way to the airport. The car showed 27 for rest of the day so indeed it was hotter.
hard working Britt, look at her hands!
Shaina's hard work on her day off was going to the gym then sun tanning on the deck! I picked up the Prince, we stopped to load up at Costco and were back at the ranch just before 7. Britt was just ahead of us, she had mowed lawn for 8 hours and only on a piece of toast and couple jugs of water. Next time I am sure she will heed her mothers suggestion to eat a good meal before work.

We had a yummy late barbecue supper we all enjoyed as a family!
