It was a sunny Wednesday, I started the day with coffee in bed and browsing Instagram, while S surfed X. I then focused on marketing and posted yesterday's blog, while S was busy on the phone dealing with a fake PC GIC scam. These scammers are becoming quite sophisticated, so caution is advised. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Harley's food was delivered.
After enjoying their naps in the sunshine, I checked on the horses. I broke the ice in the water trough, then went to the garage to inspect the desk pieces, doing some light sanding before confirming with Joanne that they were the right color. Satisfied, I left them to dry. This led to a garage cleanup, starting under the stairs. I pulled everything out, rearranged it, and set up part of the plastic shelving. I brought in two dahlia pots, trimmed them down, and placed them underneath. S joined me to help tilt the sink for better drainage. Afterward, he went to drain the water tanks on the trees. Meanwhile, I cleared out Britt’s feed and laundry area, sweeping and tidying up.
For lunch, S had a tomato sandwich, and we also added tomatoes to the cottage pie. We seem to have an abundance of tomatoes ready for use currently. I sorted them into two boxes: one for ripe and one for green tomatoes. After a quick snack, I returned to the garage, where I had swept the floor, shaken out the rugs, and tidied up everything. I fed Bird in the house paddock, then harvested more beets and the last of the kohlrabi, which then led to digging up dahlias. S moved the patio furniture back to the mezzanine. The water from the trees was ideal for rinsing the dahlias, which I then left in the sun to dry.
I opened the gates to the house paddock so the other two horses could come in for warmer water, as well as the barn paddock gate for Roo to get to the other side of the waterer. As S went inside, I trimmed the dahlias' wispy roots and placed them in the garage to cure before storage. Joining S for a beer, I hauled in the beets, scrubbed them, and topped and tailed them, while S chopped up the leaves. I then prepared another HelloFresh meal - apple pork burgers. It was a simple dish I wouldn't have chosen, but it turned out well. I also cooked a side of beet leaves for S.
After dinner, we ventured out for a soak in the hot tub, enjoying the fresh, clean water on a beautiful night. Once back inside, we showered and settled into bed to watch the new season of "Car Masters," accompanied by a bowl of yogurt. A few episodes later, we switched to "The Lincoln Lawyer" before turning off the TV early, around 10, to end our night.
